Another fantasy baseball week gets underway with a nice nine-game slate this Monday night on DraftKings. In order to include the three games that begin at 6:40 p.m. ET, the main contests start a little early this Monday, so be sure to have your entries set and ready to roll.
Of the nine games on tap, three are interleague matchups and three are divisional contests. One of those divisional matchups is the Dodgers heading to Coors Field to face the Rockies in an NL West matchup that should feature plenty of offense, especially with the added elevation boost. Whether you’ve got your eye on that matchup or another potentially high-powered stack, you may need to balance out your lineup with some cheaper opinions to make your salary cap work. The three options highlighted in this post come at very low salaries but still have high ceilings this Monday.

SP Carson Spiers, Cincinnati Reds at Pittsburgh Pirates, $6,600
While most of the attention in this game will deservedly be focused on Paul Skenes ($9,500), there is good value on the other side of this rookie starting pitcher matchup as well. Spiers will be making his first MLB start of the season but has shown signs that he can be productive. In nine games for the Louisville Bats at Triple-A, Spiers went 3-1 with a 2.51 ERA and 3.21 FIP along with 49 strikeouts in 46 2⁄3 innings. Spiers worked six innings in each of his last three starts for Louisville, allowing a total of just two earned runs with 22 strikeouts in those 18 innings. He was called up last Sunday and worked 5 2⁄3 innings out of the bullpen against the Cubs. He allowed only four hits and no runs while striking out seven to post an impressive 23.3 DKFP in that no-decision. Spiers will get a favorable matchup against the Pirates, who have the third-highest K% in the MLB over the last 30 days and rank in the bottom 10 in ISO and wOBA.
OF Jarred Kelenic, Atlanta Braves vs. Detroit Tigers, $3,200
Kelenic was a top prospect with the Mariners but needed a change of scenery this offseason, so he was traded to the Braves. The 24-year-old has been a solid contributor for Atlanta, hitting .267 with six homers and a .325 wOBA. All six of the left-handed hitter’s homers have come against righties, and he has a .342 wOBA and 121 wRC+ in the split. With Ronald Acuna (knee) done for the season and Michael Harris (hamstring) also out for a while, Kelenic will figure in a much more prominent role for the Braves than initially expected. He hit leadoff in each of his last two games since Harris’s injury and went 4-for-10 (.400) with two homers and an average of 18 DKFP per game. He also went 3-for-4 with three runs scored in his only other leadoff appearance this season. Kelenic should continue to hit atop the order against righties like Reese Olson ($7,000), and he remains underpriced for his potential in that role this Monday.
3B/OF Addison Barger, Toronto Blue Jays vs. Boston Red Sox, $2,100
Barger was ranked as the No. 6 prospect in the Toronto system by MLB Pipeline coming into the season, and he already looks much more comfortable in his second stint in the MLB this season. He went 1-for-18 in five games at the end of April before being sent back to Triple-A. In 50 games for the Buffalo Bisons this season, he hit .256 with eight homers, two stolen bases and a .380 wOBA. Barger was recalled last Friday and went 1-for-3 with a walk and 2-for-4 with a stolen base in his two starts over the weekend, averaging 11 DKFP per game. Barger started one of those games at 3B and one in the OF and brings eligibility at both those positions to Monday’s matchup with Nick Pivetta ($8,300) and the Red Sox. Barger has elite power potential in the long-term and can add in stolen bases as well. He’s an exciting part of Toronto’s recent youth movement and brings a high ceiling on Monday even though his price is barely over the minimum.
