Fantasy Football Picks: Top DraftKings NFL DFS Value Plays for Week 9

Steve Buchanan gives his top value plays at each position for Sunday’s main DraftKings NFL slate.

NFL: Washington Commanders at Philadelphia Eagles Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

We can all figure out who the studs are on a football slate. No one has to go out of their way to tell you to play Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen on a particular slate. What really takes the effort is combing through the player pool and figuring out who are some of the best values on the board ahead of the Sunday slate. That’s what we’ll do in this piece each and every week. I’ll help you save some salary while hopefully not skimping on the fantasy production.

Let’s get into some of the best value plays at each position for the Week 6 main slate on DraftKings.

Quarterback

Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers vs. Indianapolis Colts, $5,100 — Young has continued to improve week after week, averaging 14 DKFP over his last five games. In Week 9, he has a very good matchup against the Colts, who have been one of the most generous defenses to opposing quarterbacks. On the year, they’ve allowed an average of 21.7 DKFP, 266 passing yards and nine passing touchdowns. While his cast of receivers isn’t overly strong, Young has done enough to return value on his low salary. I’d love to see him use his legs more like he was in the beginning of the season. I have a small glimmer of hope we could see that in this matchup, as the Colts have allowed the third most rushing yards to opposing quarterbacks. Nonetheless, at $5,100 on a brutal week for quarterbacks, Young is very appealing.

Other Option – Taylor Heinicke ($5,000) vs. MIN

Running Back

Rachaad White, Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Houston Texans, $5,600 — I can’t lie, White has been horrible when carrying the ball. With 92 carries under his belt, he’s gone for just 305 yards, averaging 3.3 YPC and 2.3 yards per carry after contact. However, he’s been seeing a plethora of targets lately and in a PPR scoring format, that’ll do the trick. Over his last three games, White has seen 17 targets and has made 16 catches for 147 yards, boosting his average DKFP total to 13.5 over that span. He faces a Texans run defense that’s been average at best this season. The Bucs are currently three-point dogs in this game as of Friday afternoon, so game script should be in White’s favor. They have lost three straight and this is where White has been racking up these targets. If he continues to see this type of usage, he could be a good way to pay down at the position.

Other Options – Gus Edwards ($5,900) vs. SEA

Wide Receiver

Elijah Moore, Cleveland Browns vs. Arizona Cardinals, $3,900 — It’s been a very underwhelming year for Moore, who is averaging a measly 7.5 DKFP on the year. But, that said, a matchup against the Cardinals secondary can cure a slow start. Allowing the sixth-most receiving yards in the league, this is undoubtedly the best matchup Moore has encountered. Safety Jalen Thompson has seen the most targets in coverage with 15 and has allowed 11 receptions for 122 receiving yards. They’ve also been using rookie Garrett Williams over the past two weeks but has only been targeted against six times. Regardless, Moore is dirt cheap for someone who is seeing 20% of the teams total targets.

Other Options – Demario Douglas ($4,000) vs. WAS

Tight End

Logan Thomas, Washington Commanders at New England Patriots, $3,500 – On the low end salary spectrum, Thomas has been one of the most reliable. Priced at only $3,500 and averaging 10.5 DKFP, it’s hard not to look in his direction. He’s averaging over five targets per game and has his pay dirt three times. The Patriots have not been strong against opposing tight ends, allowing the 10th-most yards per target at 7.7 and an average of 10 DKFP.

Other Options – Tyler Higbee ($3,200) at GB
