Shakur Stevenson (21-0, 10 KOs) is set to defend his WBC lightweight title against Artem Harutyunyan (12-1, 7 KOs) on Saturday, July 6. The 12-round title bout gets going from the Prudential Center in New Jersey. ESPN & ESPN+ will have live coverage of the main card starting at 9 p.m. ET.
Stevenson returns to the ring after an unanimous decision victory over Edwin De Los Santos last November. The win made Stevenson a three division champion, however, the fight set a CompuBox record for the lowest amount of punches thrown in 12 rounds. The 27-year-old needs a sharp outing this weekend to answer the critics from his last bout.
Harutyunyan is a former European champion from Germany, making his second fight appearance in America. His American debut came last July, when he lost to Frank Martin by unanimous decision in Las Vegas. The 33-year-old now gets a world title opportunity at 135 pounds.
Two emerging lightweights on Top Rank Promotions will make an appearance on the card, as Abdullah Mason and Keyshawn Davis also take the ring. Mason (13-0, 11 KOs) opens up the main card opposite veteran Luis Lebron (20-5-1, 13 KOs). Davis (10-0, 1 NC, 7 KOs) will face Miguel Madueno (31-2, 28 KOs).
The co-main event features reigning WBC junior lightweight O’Shaquie Foster (22-2, 12 KOs) in a title defense against Robson Conceicao (18-2-1, 1 NC, 9 KOs). Foster is the betting favorite on Draftkings Sportsbook, with -210 odds to win, while Conceicao enters with +165 odds.
In the main event title bout, Stevenson enters a -2500 betting favorite. The underdog Harutyunyan has +1200 odds to win. The favored method of victory is Stevenson by decision or technical decision (-130).
