South Africa vs. India: Picks, predictions, team news for 2024 T20 World Cup final

The 2024 T20 World Cup will conclude Saturday with South Africa and India playing in the final. South Africa won its first semifinal ever in a World Cup, defeating Afghanistan to break a long-standing knockout curse while India exacted some revenge on England after an embarrassing defeat at the 2022 T20 World Cup. South Africa is looking to make good on a historic win by adding a maiden World Cup title to the trophy cabinet, while India is trying to bounce back from the failures of the 2023 World Cup at home in November. Here’s what you need to know for the match, along with odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

Odds, picks & predictions

South Africa: +165
India: -215

Moneyline pick: India -215

Both sides enter this match without losing a single contest through the World Cup so far, so this will be agonizing for the side that doesn’t come out on top. South Africa didn’t have to do much in the semifinal against Afghanistan for its first-ever semifinal win, but this is a different animal. India has been unable to capitalize on several finals since winning the 2011 World Cup, losing the 2017 Champions Trophy final, two ICC Test Championship finals and the 2023 World Cup final. Another loss in a final would be truly devastating in what has otherwise been a highly successful era of Indian cricket.

Neither side should have any lineup changes from the semifinal, especially since there aren’t any injuries. There’s a chance South Africa adds an extra bat in place of one of its spinners but the pace trio of Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen and Anrich Nortje will remain intact. India have kept Virat Kohli in the opener spot despite some terrible form, so there probably won’t be any shuffling there either.

South Africa and India have both navigated the changing conditions of this World Cup well and have plenty of experience to tackle the Kensington Oval in Barbados. India has played a match in this World Cup at Kensington Oval, which could provide it with a slight edge. After failing to capture a trophy in the last 13 years, I believe India gets the job done Saturday to lift the 2024 T20 World Cup over South Africa. Take the favorites on the moneyline.
