We are through two games in the 2024 NBA Finals and the Boston Celtics have been able to hold serve on their home floor without much trouble, taking a 2-0 lead on the Dallas Mavericks after Sunday’s victory. The Celtics managed to take Game 2 despite shooting 25.6% from behind the arc, highlighting how poorly the Mavericks played. Boston made some crucial plays down the stretch to secure the 105-98 victory before the series shifts to Texas.
Here’s a look at the latest odds to win Finals MVP courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook after Boston’s win Sunday evening.
2024 Finals MVP odds
Jayson Tatum: +125
Jaylen Brown: +175
Luka Doncic: +600
Jrue Holiday: +750
Kristaps Porzingis: +4000
Derrick White: +5000
Kyrie Irving: +10000
P.J. Washington: +100000
Tatum remains the favorite after coming one rebound shy of hitting a triple-double, while Brown put in another strong effort with 21 points and seven assists. However, no one has quite skyrocketed up the Finals MVP table like Holiday. The veteran point guard put up 26 points, 11 rebounds and three assists in Game 2 to move to +750 in this market. Holiday entered the Finals at +5000 to win MVP and moved down to +12000 after Game 1. If he continues to have strong scoring efforts to go along with his lockdown defense, it’ll be hard to ignore him as the most impactful player in the series.
On the flip side, Dallas’ star guards continue to fall. Doncic powered through a lingering knee injury to register a 32-point, 11-assist, 11-rebound triple-double but now stands at +600 in the Finals MVP odds table thanks to the Mavericks facing a 2-0 deficit. Irving is on an even bigger slide. The hero of the 2016 Finals hasn’t hit a three-point shot yet through two games, and managed just 16 points in 41 minutes in Game 2. He’s going to need to turn his production around in Texas or the Mavericks will be looking at a sweep.
