Game 5 between the Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder will take place Wednesday evening, with both teams hoping to gain a 3-2 edge in what has become a closely contested matchup. The Mavericks were hoping to have a 3-1 edge but the Thunder grabbed a crucial road win in Game 4 thanks to a late surge and leveled the series.
Here’s a look at some of our favorite player prop bets to target for Game 5 Wednesday, with odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.
Luka Doncic over 46.5 points + rebounds + assists (-120)
Doncic has cooled off substantially in the second round of the playoffs. He averaged 29.8 points, 9.5 assists and 8.8 rebounds per game against the Clippers but is at 22 points, 7.8 assists and 10.8 rebounds in four games against the Thunder. He is coming off arguably the worst playoff game of his career in Game 4, shooting just 30% from the floor and committing seven turnovers. I don’t know if a big game from Doncic will be enough to lead the Mavericks to a win but I think he bounces back in Game 5.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander over 32.5 points (+100)
Despite going under this line in all four regular season meetings against Dallas, Oklahoma City’s star point guard has taken over in this series, particularly in Game 4. He made clutch shot after clutch shot to carry the Thunder through that contest and has averaged 31.8 points per game in the series. SGA has gone over this line twice and is coming off one of his best performances ever. I think he continues to score at a high clip and goes over this line tonight.
P.J. Washington under 2.5 3-pointers (+105)
Washington shot 32% from behind the arc during the regular season, and he hit just 31.4% of his triples with Dallas since joining the Mavericks at the trade deadline. Basically, his 51.4% hit rate during this series is unsustainable and there will be a decline at some point. Washington only shot 31.3% from deep against the Clippers in the first round, so this burst truly has come out of nowhere. I don’t know for sure whether Game 5 will be the inflection point for the forward but I’ll back him to struggle in a high-pressure environment on the road.
Josh Giddey under 2.5 rebounds (+124)
It’s been a rough series for Giddey, who has seen his role decline substantially. He’s actually gone under this mark in each of the last three games, somehow coming away with zero rebounds in Game 4. While I don’t think Giddey will completely be phased out of the rotation, the Thunder have found a better formula leaning on the likes of Aaron Wiggins and Jaylin Williams more. I think Giddey continues to see limited minutes and as a result, remains under this line.
