What happened to Lamar Jackson? Live injury updates for Bills vs. Ravens on Sunday 11/01/26

UPDATE: Before the ends of the first quarters strikes across the league, Lamar Jackson has already, brutally, been ruled out of Week 8’s high-powered matchup with the Bills due to his thumb injury. We have no details beyond that; Tyler Huntley will helm the Ravens’ offense for the rest of the afternoon.

In one of the cruelest twists of fate during one of the most marquee 1 o’clock matchups this season, Lamar Jackson, freshly returning from his high ankle sprain, injured his throwing hand on his first drive of the game. He is now questionable to return to the game with a right thumb injury.

Jackson was making his first appearance after missing three games with a high ankle sprain. He practiced fully all week and entered today without an injury designation, although he acknowledged Friday that his ankle still hurt. The Ravens had only just gotten their quarterback back.

Baltimore went 1-2 with Tyler Huntley starting during Jackson’s absence, averaging 17.7 points compared with 29 in Jackson’s four starts. The Ravens failed to score after halftime in either of their past two losses. Huntley had helped rescue an overtime win in Atlanta, but Baltimore’s subsequent offensive stalls made Jackson’s return especially urgent against Buffalo.

The immediate question is whether Jackson can grip and throw effectively. If the hand keeps him out, Baltimore would again turn to Huntley with Jackson still recovering from the ankle injury—and Jacksonville awaiting on short rest.
