What Are the Top College Football Playoff National Championship Futures Heading Into Week 9?

Halloween is Saturday, and with several notable matchups on the slate, will the teams at the top of the national championship markets on DraftKings Predictions avoid tricks and get only treats?

The last few weeks have seen some Top 10 upsets (Georgia losing to Auburn, BYU losing to UCF and Texas Tech falling to Cincinnati), so fans need no reminder that anything can happen once the ball is snapped. No. 1 Miami is in action against Bill Belichick’s UNC squad, which is 5-0 against the Hurricanes since 2019, though the two teams haven’t met since 2023. Meanwhile, No. 2 Ohio State faces USC in a primetime matchup that has lost some of its luster as the Trojans have suffered two losses, including a 24-7 defeat at Wisconsin last Saturday, and Lincoln Riley’s future has come into question. No. 3 Georgia, meanwhile, takes on archrival No. 17 Florida in Atlanta, while defending champion No. 4 Indiana is in action against Minnesota.

The first College Football Playoff rankings are set to come out on Tuesday, but can the championship contenders survive this weekend without getting a fright?

Here’s a look at some of the national championship futures markets on DraftKings Predictions ahead of Week 9 of the 2026 college football season.

Key Teams to Watch

Georgia — 28%

Georgia is 6-1 and 4-1 in the SEC, ranked third in the latest AP poll. The Bulldogs score 43.0 points per game, third nationally, and allow 15.9, 16th, for a plus-27.1 differential that ranks third. The one blemish came at home on October 17, a 27-24 loss to Auburn that followed a 20-17 win at Alabama the week before. Georgia converts 53.9% of its third downs, and its remaining schedule includes Florida in Atlanta, a trip to Ole Miss and the regular-season finale against Georgia Tech.

Gunner Stockton has thrown for 1,570 yards with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions on 117-of-158 passing, a 185.9 efficiency rating. Dwight Phillips Jr. averages 7.4 yards on 47 carries, and Talyn Taylor leads the receivers with three touchdown catches.

Miami — 26%

Miami is the only undefeated team on this board at 7-0, 5-0 in the ACC, and is the AP No. 1 with 59 first-place votes. The Hurricanes lead FBS in scoring at 49.0 points per game and in point differential at plus-33.7, while allowing 15.3 points per game, 11th. They average 551.9 yards per game and surrender 60.0 rushing yards per game. Their wins include 33-20 at Wake Forest, 41-13 at Clemson, 43-35 over Florida State and 52-23 over Pittsburgh. Miami controls its own path to the ACC title game, with North Carolina on Saturday and a trip to Notre Dame on November 7.

Darian Mensah has completed 166 of 204 passes for 2,151 yards with 22 touchdowns and one interception, a 204.6 rating. Malachi Toney has 66 catches for 952 yards and 11 touchdowns. Javian Mallory and Mark Fletcher Jr. have seven rushing touchdowns each.

Ohio State — 23%

Ohio State is 6-1 and the only Big Ten team unbeaten in conference play at 4-0, ranked second in the AP poll. The Buckeyes score 39.3 points per game, ninth nationally, and allow 13.4, fifth, for a plus-25.9 differential that ranks fourth. Their lone loss was 24-23 at Texas in the second week of the season, and they have since won five straight, including 19-15 at Indiana. Ohio State has only 10 sacks, the fewest among the nine teams here. Three of its remaining five games are against teams on this board: USC on Saturday, Oregon on November 7 and Michigan on November 28.

Julian Sayin has thrown for 2,007 yards with 19 touchdowns and four interceptions, but is expected to miss the remainder of the season with an injury to his throwing arm/shoulder. Jeremiah Smith has 52 catches for 984 yards and 12 touchdowns, and Bo Jackson leads the ground game with 516 yards on 107 carries.

Notre Dame — 23%

Notre Dame is 6-1 and, as an independent, has no conference title game to play for or win. The Irish are fifth in the AP poll, score 41.1 points per game, fifth nationally, and allow 13.4, fourth, giving them a plus-27.7 differential that ranks second behind only Miami. They allow 235.0 total yards per game and have a turnover margin of plus-12, having given the ball away just twice all season. The loss was 28-24 at BYU on October 17, and their strength of schedule ranks 100th. Miami visits South Bend on November 8.

CJ Carr has thrown for 1,639 yards with 16 touchdowns and one interception. Jonaz Walton averages 7.5 yards per carry, Nolan James Jr. has six rushing touchdowns, and Jordan Faison leads the team with 451 receiving yards.

Indiana — 18%

Indiana is the defending national champion, 7-1 and 4-1 in the Big Ten, ranked fourth in the AP poll. The Hoosiers allow 12.0 points per game, second nationally, while scoring 33.6, which ranks 38th, and their plus-21.6 differential is eighth. They have 28 sacks and have conceded 73.1 rushing yards per game. The loss was 19-15 at home to Ohio State on October 17, and they answered it by winning 13-6 at Michigan. Indiana’s strength of schedule ranks 30th, the second-toughest among the top four on this board.

Josh Hoover has thrown for 1,741 yards with 18 touchdowns and one interception. Turbo Richard has 711 yards at 6.7 per carry, Lee Beebe Jr. has 631, and Charlie Becker leads the receivers with 726 yards and eight touchdowns.
