Who Will Be the Next James Bond? The Latest DraftKings Predictions Markets

Updated:

By: Jeff Pratt

James Bond is getting ready for a new era. With Daniel Craig’s run as 007 officially in the rearview, speculation has ramped up over which actor will be handed one of film’s most iconic roles next. Denis Villeneuve, the filmmaker behind Dune, Arrival and Blade Runner 2049, is set to direct the next Bond film, giving the franchise an acclaimed new creative voice. A handful of stars have emerged as early contenders, ranging from movie stars to proven TV leads to younger actors who could grow into the role over multiple films. Here’s a look at the DraftKings Predictions market for who will be the next James Bond.

Pricing reflects market sentiment and is subject to change.

Jack Lowden — 59% To Be The Next James Bond

  • Age: 36
  • Nationality: Scottish
  • Notable roles: River Cartwright in Slow Horses; Lord Darnley in Mary Queen of Scots

The only Scot among the top favorites on the board, Jack Lowden has emerged as a strong contender to portray the legendary James Bond next. Lowden’s status among the favorites has been earned through his portrayal of River Cartwright in Slow Horses, a disgraced spy who shares similar characteristics to Bond himself. Lowden has the temperament, composure and swagger to fit the bill.

Callum Turner — 54% To Be The Next James Bond

  • Age: 36
  • Nationality: English
  • Notable roles: Major John “Bucky” Egan in Masters of the Air; Theseus Scamander in the Fantastic Beasts films

Arguably the biggest traditional movie star among the favorites, Turner has long been linked to playing Bond. He has significant experience in roles that call for a similar level of charisma that would be required to play the legendary spy. At 36, he’s right in the sweet spot to kick off a (hopefully) long tenure in the franchise.

Josh O’Connor — 47% To Be The Next James Bond

  • Age: 36
  • Nationality: English
  • Notable roles: Prince Charles in The Crown; Patrick Zweig in Challengers

Another established film star, O’Connor certainly has the pedigree through his filmography to play the role, although his generally softer temperament and character history would make him an interesting choice and a significant diversion from actors who have previously portrayed Bond.

Jack Barton — 45% To Be The Next James Bond

  • Age: 31
  • Nationality: English
  • Notable roles: David Nelson in Heartstopper; John Tonkin in SAS: Rogue Heroes

Perhaps the least-known actor among the top five current favorites on DraftKings Predictions, Barton broke out thanks to his roles in Heartstopper and SAS: Rogue Heroes. Barton would be a bit of an off-the-board pick for Villeneuve, but he has the chops to pull it off.

George MacKay — 43% To Be The Next James Bond

  • Age: 34
  • Nationality: English
  • Notable roles: Edward Ferrars in Sense and Sensibility; Lance Corporal Schofield in 1917

MacKay burst onto the scene in 2019 for his stoic portrayal of Lance Corporal Schofield in 1917, once again turning heads for his most recent role as Edward Ferrars in Sense and Sensibility. The Englishman fits the bill of the more traditional stern, no-nonsense depictions of Bond.

Stay tuned for more updates as Villeneuve nears his pick to play the next James Bond.
