The beat goes on for the Boston Celtics. Last season, despite injuries and offseason departures, they still managed to pile up 56 wins and earn the No. 2 seed in the East. Now they’ll have to do it again while navigating life without Jaylen Brown. Will Jayson Tatum and the C’s keep the machine rolling this year? Or is this the time when cracks start to show?
Celtics Win Total Projection
Here’s a look at the Celtics’ projected win total on DraftKings Sportsbook:

Our oddsmakers predict a slight step back for the Celtics, but not a huge one given their offseason. GM Brad Stevens’ offseason moves are the talk of the town; let’s break them down before we get into the team.
Celtics 2026-27 Offseason Summary
IN: G/F Paul George, C Mitchell Robinson, G Mike Conley, F/C Chris Cenac
OUT: G/F Jaylen Brown, C Nikola Vucevic, G Dalano Banton
RE-SIGNED: C Neemias Queta, G Payton Pritchard, G/F Jordan Walsh
Last offseason, the Celtics underwent a massive makeover, both to get younger and to get out of the second apron. This offseason, Boston needed more big changes: it finally chose between Tatum and Brown, sending the latter to Philadelphia for Paul George and draft picks. George is certainly older and less talented than Brown, but fits like a glove as an off-ball player next to Tatum. George’s contract also helped them sign Mitchell Robinson to a three-year deal, who will form a strong center tandem with Neemias Queta.
The Celtics’ identity remains the same: defend hard, shoot a ton of threes, and get active on the glass. They certainly have the personnel to do that: Tatum has shown he can be an A1 offensive option, and George, Payton Pritchard, and Derrick White provide a trio of proven secondary options.
What’s going to be interesting to see is their pivot from high-end stars to leaning into depth. Tatum, George, White, Pritchard, and Robinson are known quantities who are likely to close a lot of games together. But there is some serious depth on this team. Queta is a solid starter and an even better backup, with Luka Garza’s offense making him an excellent third-string big. Amari Williams may be a frontcourt factor as well after some promising signs and G-League dominance.
The real interesting group here is the wings. Sam Hauser is their elite movement sniper and he’s improved his all-around game to stay relevant. Baylor Scheierman continues to grow as a passer, shooter, and defender. Jordan Walsh is one heck of a perimeter defender who is growing as a shot-maker. Perhaps most interesting is Hugo Gonzalez, who showed strong two-way potential as a teenage rookie last season. They have a lot of talent that can pop off the bench here.
Boston is content to trust the process. Put faith in head coach Joe Mazzulla and his system. Trust Jayson Tatum to be the best player on a contender. Constantly replenish through the draft. Will that be enough for another 50+ win season?
Celtics 2026-27 Regular-Season Win Total Pick
It’s fair to wonder whether the Celtics can find their magic again in the playoffs. Losing to the Sixers in Round 1 last year was a wake-up call that tweaks are needed, and it’s unclear whether that will lead to another championship. But this is a machine built to churn out regular-season wins. Last year was Mazzulla’s four-year low in wins with Boston, but they still won 56 games. Assuming Tatum stays healthy, Boston will rack up the wins and compete for the top overall seed in the Eastern Conference.
