With injuries continuing to build alongside bye-week concerns, fantasy football depth is being stretched to the max as we hit the middle of the fantasy football regular season. If your team needs a boost to get through the next few weeks, some strong options emerged in Week 6 that deserve attention. Let’s look at some of the top names emerging as top Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 7 after another exciting week of action.
Be sure to stay locked in to DK Network throughout the week and the rest of the season for all the latest news and fantasy impact. We’ll run down a few of the top potential waiver wire pickups for Week 7 in this post, but be sure to watch how the week unfolds and how players recover. While the Bengals, Lions, Dolphins and Vikings will all be back in action in Week 7 after their Week 6 bye weeks, the Jaguars, Chargers, Commanders and Bills will be out of action in Week 7, so be sure you have backups ready if you normally rely on players from those squads.
This post is designed to be an early look at some of the names to keep an eye on coming into your preparation for Week 7 and the rest of your fantasy football season.
Top Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 7
| Player | Position | Team | Week 6 | Why Consider Them? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Omar Cooper Jr. | WR | New York Jets | 25.3 FPTS | Cooper had 100+ yards and a touchdown in his return from IR and has an open door to a big role in the Jets’ passing game. He’s a first-round rookie with a very high ceiling. |
| Jawhar Jordan | RB | Houston Texans | 12.0 FPTS | Jordan looked strong in limited work against the Jaguars and could earn more playing time next week as the Texans look to get their offense turned back around. |
| Tanner McKee | QB | Philadelphia Eagles | 12.6 FPTS | McKee threw for 215 yards on a huge 45 pass attempts. That volume could result in good production in favorable matchups for the next three weeks. |
| Darnell Washington | TE | Pittsburgh Steelers | 12.5 FPTS | Washington has multiple catches in four straight games and caught four of his season-high six targets for 25 yards and a touchdown. |
| Saints DST | DST | New Orleans Saints | 13 FPTS | The Saints forced four turnovers and racked up five sacks in their win over the Giants. They have favorable matchups against the Steelers and the Browns on either side of their Week 8 bye week. |
Best Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups and Adds for Week 7
One key factor to keep a close eye on every week is new injuries. Here are some new situations to monitor moving forward:
Players with new injuries from Week 6 to watch:
- QB Michael Penix Jr., Atlanta Falcons
- RB Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints
- WR Davante Adams, Los Angeles Rams
- WR Ladd McConkey, Los Angeles Chargers
- WR Romeo Doubs, New England Patriots
- WR Rashod Bateman, Baltimore Ravens
- WR Dontayvion Wicks, Philadelphia Eagles
- WR Makai Lemon, Philadelphia Eagles
- TE Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts (sustained in practice)
- TE Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs
With those injuries in mind, here are some of my early names to watch if you’re shopping on the Week 7 waiver wire.
WR Omar Cooper Jr., New York Jets
The Jets got first-round pick Omar Cooper Jr. (25.3 FPTS) back from his ankle injury in Week 6 against the Patriots, and the rookie didn’t look like he needed any ramp-up period at all. He caught a 14-yard touchdown in the first quarter against the Patriots that was nullified by an offensive pass interference penalty on Tim Patrick. He came back in the second half with another trip to the end zone, but this time it counted.
Cooper finished the day with a team-high six catches for 103 yards and a touchdown, while also leading the team with seven targets. His final stat line could have been even more impressive if his first score hadn’t been wiped off the board.
I highlighted Cooper as a great stash pickup before his Week 6 return, and he could be a key part of the Jets offense the rest of the season. He’s a top pickup, especially with some favorable matchups against the Dolphins (twice), Raiders, Bills and Chargers in the coming weeks.
Other top performances at receiver to consider as you check out the Waiver Wire Week 7 include Jaylin Noel (23.7 FPTS), DeMario Douglas (20.6 FPTS), Jahan Dotson (17.7 FPTS) and Travis Hunter (15.9 FPTS).
RB Jawhar Jordan, Houston Texans
Are the Texans following last year’s script and storming back after a slow start to climb into the playoffs? After starting 0-4 this year, they have won back-to-back games after a thrilling early-morning win over the Jaguars in London. David Montgomery (groin) missed this week’s game, allowing Woody Marks (10.1 FPTS) to take over most of the work in the backfield. Behind Marks, Jawhar Jordan (12 FPTS) was promoted from the practice squad and went off for 43 rushing yards on his six carries, including this pretty cutback touchdown.
The Texans have rotated Marks and Montgomery, but neither has shown much big-play potential like Jordan did in this game. The sixth-round pick from Louisville had a few big games in December of last season as well, including a 100-yard game against the Cardinals.
While it isn’t clear yet if Montgomery will miss Week 7, it makes sense for the team to be cautious with him, with a Week 8 bye just around the corner. He didn’t travel to London this week, so he remains week-to-week. If Montgomery misses Week 7, Jordan could get more work in a very favorable matchup against the Giants.
Long-term, his role is uncertain, but he earned more opportunities with his strong showing in Week 6 to be worth a short-term look if you need help next week.
If you need help further down the road, Samaje Perine of the Bengals makes sense coming back off his bye week. Tyrone Tracy Jr. (18.5 FPTS) had a big game in the Giants’ reconfigured backfield, Dameon Pierce (15 FPTS) stepped in effectively for the Eagles, and Bam Knight (11.8 FPTS) stepped up for the Cardinals.
QB Tanner McKee, Philadelphia Eagles
With Jameis Winston (8.48 FPTS) struggling, the Giants went to J.J. McCarthy (17.3 FPTS), who showed off a lot of upside while almost leading a comeback. Without a clear starter in New York, though, Tanner McKee (12.6 FPTS) makes more sense as an option from the Waiver Wire Week 7. McKee will likely start for as long as Jalen Hurts (calf) is sidelined due to blood clots in his calf. Hurts missed Sunday’s contest and will miss at least three more games, since he was placed on IR on Saturday. Officially, Hurts is out indefinitely, so McKee’s starting stint could be even longer.
In his first start, he completed 26 of 45 passes for 215 yards and a touchdown. It’s a great sign that he was trusted to attempt so many passes as the Eagles tried to rally back against the Panthers. He looked much better in the second half after an inconsistent start, and he threw this strike for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
McKee and the Eagles have a very favorable schedule ahead with division games against the Cowboys, Commanders and Giants in the next three weeks before a Week 10 bye week. All three of those NFC East teams ranked in the top 10 of the most FPTS per game allowed to QBs coming into Week 6. He can be an emergency option in any of those matchups, and he is a solid QB2 in this offense.
Other available QB options to help you fill in your bye week or injuries include Michael Penix Jr. (24.1 FPTS), Geno Smith (12.98 FPTS) and McCarthy if he’s named the starter.
TE Darnell Washington, Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers were short on pass-catchers in Week 6, and rookie Germie Bernard (25.7 FPTS) stepped up after being one of my top waiver wire pickups last week and one of my top WR sleepers for Week 6. In addition to Bernard, Darnell Washington (12.5 FPTS) stepped up catching four of his six targets for 12.5 FPTS and a touchdown in the Steelers’ win.
Washington has multiple catches in four straight games and has found the end zone in two of his last three contests. He set a season-high with six targets against the Bucs this week, and it’s clear that Aaron Rodgers (17.02 FPTS) is comfortable going in his direction, especially in the red zone.
Washington is a big target but also brings big-play potential and good upside if he’s regularly involved in Pittsburgh’s passing game.
Other tight ends who may be on the waiver wire and had big Week 6 performances include Tommy Tremble (20.6 FPTS), Josh Cuevas (14.4 FPTS) and Mason Taylor (7.3 FPTS).
Saints DST
The Saints DST (13 FPTS) was the second-highest scoring defense on DraftKings on the main slate. They forced four turnovers against the Giants and piled up five sacks. Fourth-year CB Martin Emerson Jr. had not had an interception since 2023, but he had a pair of picks, while Carl Granderson and Chase Young led the way with 1.5 sacks each.
The Saints are home next week against the Steelers before their bye week, and they return in Week 9 with a favorable home matchup against the Browns.
The Titans DST (15 FPTS) also had a big game against the Colts to help secure the team its first win of the season, and next week, they’ll take on the Browns. The Jets DST (4 FPTS) had a tough matchup against Drake Maye’s Patriots this week, but they’ll be in a better spot against the Dolphins next week, and their aggressive style gives them a high upside. The Panthers DST (7 FPTS) is also worth a look as a streaming option when they host the Bucs in a divisional matchup in Week 7.
