Best NHL Player Props Today

Tim Stutzle 1+ Assist (-105)

Perhaps it was Brady Tkachuk who was holding Stutzle back, as the 24-year-old has notched three assists and six points through his first three outings of the new season. Five of Stutzle’s six points this season have come while playing at 5v5, and he leads all Ottawa forwards in ice time per game. The Senators face the Flyers tonight, who sport a 0-2-2 record and rank sixth in goals against per game. Stutzle ranks seventh in 5v5 assists per 60 thus far, while Philadelphia ranks dead last in 5v5 xGoals against per 60 and 25th in 5v5 goals against per 60. The German center is carrying this Senators team early, and it’s unlikely that his production slows down against this Flyers team that has allowed the most 5v5 high-danger chances against.

Nathan MacKinnon 4+ Shots on Goal (-130)

I don’t normally like targeting SOG props as high as four, but it’s a different story for MacKinnon, who has cleared this total in 2-of-3 games thus far, while averaging 7.6 shot attempts per game. The 31-year-old ranks sixth in 5v5 shot attempts per 60 and ninth in 5v5 shots per 60 through three games, and he draws a matchup against the Flames, who are 0-3-0 and sport a league-worst -13 goal differential. Colorado has averaged the second-most shots per game, while Calgary has allowed the 12th-most shots per game and fifth-most against opposing centers. MacKinnon has cleared this total in each of his past three meetings against the Flames, too.

Jack Eichel 2+ Points (+165)

Eichel has been on another level to start the season, recording 10 points across his four outings and clearing 2+ points in three of those. Tonight, he’ll face the Maple Leafs, who have allowed the third-most 5v5 high-danger chances against and the third-highest 5v5 xGoals against per 60 average. It’s worth noting that half of Eichel’s 10 points have come while on the man advantage, and Toronto sports the fifth-best PK% thus far. Still, the Maple Leafs rank 17th in total penalties taken, and they’ve allowed 3+ power play opportunities in four of their past five meetings against the Golden Knights. Eichel has notched 2+ points in each of his past three meetings against Toronto, too.
