Captain Olivia Benson and the members of the NYPD Special Victims Unit are back tonight for the Season 28 premiere of Law & Order: SVU on NBC.
Benson has been a fixture on SVU since the beginning, but enters Season 28 coming off a power struggle with Chief Kathryn Tynan. Benson got the upper hand in the Season 27 finale, however, thanks to Detective Jake Griffin, who got the Chief on tape confessing to a cover-up. This gave Benson the ammo to protect herself and her team.
Season 27 was also a struggle for Sgt. Fin Tutuola, who was away from the unit for a long time after being attacked in the season premiere. But luckily he was back on his feet and in the field by the Season 27 finale.
