Following Week 4 of Dancing With the Stars Season 35, the five frontrunners have continued to pull away from the rest of the pack. Scores are only one part of the equation: judges’ feedback, week-to-week growth and fan support all factor into our third power rankings of the season. Here are our Dancing With the Stars power rankings following Week 4, from the couples best positioned to contend for the Mirrorball Trophy to those who need a major turnaround in the weeks ahead.
Dancing With the Stars Season 35 Power Rankings
#11: Jackson Olson and Emma Slater
Week 4 Score: 21
Jackson saw an improvement in scores compared to last week, but his upside as a dancer combined with fan presence still feels quite limited compared to the rest of the field. Four weeks is enough to determine if a celebrity has what it takes to truly contend for the Mirrorball, and that doesn’t appear to be the case for the Savannah Banana.
#10: Tyler Cameron and Sharna Burgess
Week 4 Score: 21
Tyler gets the slight edge over Jackson because I do see high-level dancing potential in him, and his improvement from Week 3 to 4 was significant. The reality TV personality will still remain on the elimination bubble over the coming weeks barring an unforeseen breakthrough, but this season has been a respectable showing from him.
#9: Guillermo Rodriguez and Witney Carson
Week 4 Score: 13
Guillermo took a step back in Week 4 after a surprisingly strong performance in his prior outing, but it doesn’t really matter. We all know the TV icon is going to anchor the leaderboard every week, but his fan presence is massive and will likely carry him at least two or three more episodes.
#8: Connor Wood and Rylee Arnold
Week 4 Score: 19
It’s hard to pin down exactly what to expect from Connor. At his best, he’s right on the fringe of the outside looking in on the true contenders. When he’s off, the scores tend to plummet. The latter was the case in Week 4, and I anticipate inconsistency defining the remainder of his Dancing With the Stars tenure.
#7: Julia Stiles and Ezra Sosa
Week 4 Score: 21
The scores only indicated a marginal improvement from Julia this week, but it really felt like her breakthrough performance. The movie star had been so stiff over her first three performances, but she found a rhythm and fluidity in her latest Viennese waltz with Ezra Sosa. It’s hard to see Julia winning, but a run to the final six could be in the cards.
#6: Tatyana Ali and Jan Ravnik
Week 4 Score: 20
Tatyana wasn’t quite as strong this week, but she still clearly has a natural feel for dance. Similar to Julia, a trip to the final six seems to be her ceiling, but that would still be a really impressive showing for the Fresh Prince star.
#5: Jenna Dewan and Val Chmerkovskiy
Week 4 Score: 24
The top five continued to lengthen the divide between them and the rest of the field in Week 4. Anyone in said group could easily win DWTS Season 35. Jenna bounced back after a slightly forced performance in the prior episode, nailing her rumba with Val. It feels like her fan presence may not be quite as strong as the rest of the top five, but we’ll find out as the field narrows.
#4: Amber Glenn and Pasha Pashkov
Week 4 Score: 23
Amber produced the lowest scores out of the top five this week, but she’s still a wildly talented athlete who showcases her skillset in every performances. The Olympic figure skater will continue to utilize this edge over the field to her advantage, and her extreme competitive nature will almost certainly result in week-over-week improvement.
#3: Ezra Frech and Daniella Karagach
Week 4 Score: 24
Ezra bounced back in a big way after a slight down week. He and Daniella delivered a beautiful rumba, and it was important to see the Paralympian put together a masterful performance in such a slow dance. With that type of outing under his belt, Ezra is sure to keep the momentum rolling.
#2: Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas
Week 4 Score: 25
Maura earned the first nine of the season, which is ridiculously impressive coming from someone with no prior dance experience in a field that includes legitimate professional performers. She continues to pull rabbit after rabbit out of her hat weekly, showcasing a shockingly deep bag and remarkable rhythm.
#1: Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson
Week 4 Score: 24
It just feels like Harry’s floor and ceiling are higher than everyone else in this competition. At his best, he has been the most impressive performance in Season 35 (regardless of Maura earning the highest individual score). It’s yet to be seen if he has the necessary fan support to win, but based on talent alone, he stands atop the mountain.
