Prediction, pick for Ryuho Miyaguchi vs. Mateus Soares at DWCS Season 10, Week 9

Tonight’s edition of Dana White’s Contender Series features a three-round Bantamweight fight between Ryuho Miyaguchi and Mateus Soares. Miyaguchi is 7-1 with six knockouts, while Soares is 11-2 with nine knockouts and one submission. DWCS is being hosted at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, and airs live on Paramount+ beginning at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Check out my best bet below for Ryuho Miyaguchi vs. Mateus Soares at tonight’s edition of Dana White’s Contender Series.

Under 1.5 Rounds (-166)

Although this is Miyaguchi’s first fight on Dana White’s Contender Series, it isn’t his only bout under the UFC banner. Miyaguchi fought Chungreng Koren at Road to UFC in May, where he suffered his first career defeat. Before that, Miyaguchi started his MMA career 7-0 with six coming by knockout.

At only 22, Soares has been incredibly active, as this will be his 14th professional MMA fight in the last four years. Since 2023, Soares is 8-1 in his previous nine contests. Soares is currently on a four-fight winning streak, with three by knockout. He last won by first-round knockout over Edson dos Anjos at LFA 234 in May.

A massive height difference separates these two fighters: Miyaguchi is five inches taller than Soares (5’10” vs. 5’5″). Miyaguchi also possesses a two-inch reach advantage (68.5″ vs. 66.5″) in this contest. After coming up short at Road to UFC, I expect Miyaguchi to come out more cautious while also displaying his tremendous power. With the large physical gap, Soares could struggle to close the distance and make an impact against Miyaguchi.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, Soares is the favorite at -395, with Miyaguchi being a +310 underdog. Eight of Soares’s 11 MMA wins have come in the first round, and his last two victories came in the opening round. Four of Miyaguchi’s previous five wins have come in the first round. With two aggressive fighters possessing supreme knockout power, it has the makings of a war that doesn’t last long. That is why I’m taking the under of 1.5 rounds at -166 in this contest.
