Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Payton Talbott Fight Preview
Deiveson Figueiredo (#9)
- 25–7–1 (14–7–1 UFC)
- 9–2 (T)KO
- 9–2 SUB
Deiveson Figueiredo isn’t who he used to be at 38. The former two-time flyweight champion has dropped four of his last five fights, including a TKO loss that stemmed from a knee injury. The Brazilian’s lone win in that span — over Montel Jackson in October 2025 — came via split decision.
While “Dues da Guerra” remains a battle-tested veteran with elite grappling, he’s become more hittable than formidable in the twilight of his career. And although he’s never been knocked out inside the cage, Figueiredo now faces a size, speed, and athleticism disadvantage against one of the division’s most dangerous strikers.
Payton Talbott (#12)
- 11–1 (5–1 UFC)
- 7–0 (T)KO
- 1–0 SUB
Payton Talbott has seemingly learned from his first professional loss against Raoni Barcelos in January 2025, showcasing an overhauled grappling game in his last two fights. Facing Felipe Lima and Henry Cejudo, the Nevada native stuffed 18 of 22 combined takedown attempts (82 percent) and even imposed some offensive wrestling of his own on his way to back-to-back decision wins.
Talbott’s improved ground game should help him do what he actually wants: to extend his highlight reel. The rising prospect, 28, is an exceptional striker who utilizes a towering 5-foot-10 frame to batter his opponents at range with fluid combinations. Although his finishes have stalled as he’s climbed the bantamweight ladder, his power is undeniable — and he’s not going out there trying to win by decision.
Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Payton Talbott Pick, Best Bet
Payton Talbott is one of the most exciting prospects on the active roster. Fresh off his dominant win over Henry Cejudo, he’s positioned to use another future Hall of Famer as a stepping stone into the bantamweight top 10. His upgraded grappling gives him nearly every advantage in the book over Deiveson Figueiredo, who has faded considerably with age. With his power and finishing prowess in mind, there’s solid value in backing Talbott to become the first man to chin the former two-time flyweight champ.
