Tonight at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, the UFC is hosting another edition of Dana White’s Contender Series! This is the eighth week of Dana White’s Contender Series’ 10th season. DWCS is coming off one of the best weeks in the show’s history, as six fighters received UFC contracts, including two who suffered a loss.
Week 8 of DWCS Season 10 is headlined by a three-round Lightweight contest between Loai Abushaar vs. George Staines. Staines is an undefeated prospect with an 8-0 record and trains at Next Generation MMA Liverpool, the home of No. 5 UFC Lightweight contender Paddy Pimblett. Meanwhile, Abushaar, 30, is 7-1 with four knockouts and three submissions and has only been past the first round once. This card was originally slated to open with a Featherweight bout between Ilias Bulaid and Erick Visconde. But the bout has been moved to Week 10 of DWCS because of Bulaid’s illness. Tonight’s DWCS card will now feature four fights instead of the usual five.

1:01 into the fight, George Staines beat Loai Abushaar by knockout. Staines improves his record to 9-0, with three of his previous four wins coming by knockout or submission. This is Abushaar’s first loss since August 2023, ending his previous four-fight winning streak.
Staines pushed Abushaar backward at the start of the fight. Less than a minute into the round, Staines landed a takedown. Staines picked up Abushaar and dropped him, which seemed to end the fight. This is the first slam knockout in the history of Dana White’s Contender Series.

Adama Diop beat Zaurbek Sabanov by second-round knockout at DWCS. This is Diop’s sixth consecutive victory and is now 7-1 with six knockouts. Diop hands Sabanov his first career loss. The referee stopped the fight after Diop landed plenty of unanswered punches on Sabanov.
