In the late stages of the New York Jets vs. Detroit Lions matchup, Garrett Wilson was taken out of the game and is being further evaluated by trainers. While attempting to come back to the football to make a play on a pass from Geno Smith, Wilson took a hit to his upper body area. The star wide receiver was in immediate pain and took his helmet off while lying on the turf before trainers came rushing over.
Geno Smith was sacked on the following play and fumbled the football to cement the 31-24 loss for the Jets. Due to the quick turnaround, we will have to wait until postgame updates to get more information on Wilson’s outlook.
Prior to the injury, Wilson tallied 10 receptions on 13 targets for 107 yards and a touchdown through the air. It was a tough day for the Jets across the board, as Breece Hall also suffered an injury during this matchup, while rookie Omar Cooper Jr. suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 1, and Adonai Mitchell was ruled inactive ahead of today’s matchup due to a finger injury.
