Major League Baseball begins the final weekend of the regular season with a 10-game main DFS fantasy baseball slate on Friday. Some of the games have been shuffled around due to weather coming to the East Coast, but it should still set up to be a fun weekend to close things out. As you build your fantasy lineups for the last few large slates of the year, getting just the right MLB DFS value picks is still critical. The right bargains can give you a boost of production at a low cost, while also enabling you to spend more on superstar options in other spots.
To help you as you search through the bargain bin, check out these three MLB DFS value picks in this post, who bring big upside despite their small salaries:
- SP Robert Gasser, Milwaukee Brewers vs. St. Louis Cardinals, $7,200: Gasser has allowed one run or fewer in three straight starts, producing 14+ FPTS in four of his last five outings with an average of 16.5 FPTS. He had 21.6 FPTS against the Cardinals earlier this year and will look to lock in his postseason spot with another strong showing.
- 2B/3B Javier Sanoja, Miami Marlins vs. Atlanta Braves, $3,300: Sanoja has hit safely in 20 of his last 22 games, going 32-for-89 (.360) with two stolen bases, four doubles, three triples, four homers and a .422 wOBA. He’s averaging 10.3 FPTS over his last 10 games.
- OF Carlos Jorge, Cincinnati Reds at Toronto Blue Jays, $2,500: Jorge is a speedster with 34 steals across three levels this season. He’s getting his first taste of the majors after slashing .308/.376/.427 in Double-A and Triple-A this year. He hit his first MLB homer on Thursday and has a hit in three straight starts.

Top MLB DFS Value Plays
SP Robert Gasser, Milwaukee Brewers vs. St. Louis Cardinals, $7,200
Gasser has been excellent in his last few starts for the Brewers, making a strong case for a role in the postseason, and getting the spot as my top starting pitcher in Friday’s MLB DFS value picks. He’s allowed just two total runs over his last three outings, spanning 16 2/3 innings. He has allowed just nine hits over that span and is coming off an especially strong outing against the Orioles, in which he went seven scoreless innings and earned his fifth win of the season.
Gasser doesn’t have elite strikeout upside, but he has 14+ FPTS in four of his last five starts while averaging 16.5 FPTS per appearance. He had a strong outing on the road against the Cardinals at the beginning of July, working 7 2/3 innings and earning 21.6 FPTS. He’ll look to shut them down again on Friday night, and getting him at just over $7K allows plenty of flexibility across the rest of your roster.
2B/3B Javier Sanoja, Miami Marlins vs. Atlanta Braves, $3,300
Sanoja has had a very solid season for the Marlins and brings consistent value from this salary along with dual position eligibility. He is hitting .294 with a .341 wOBA on the season, but he has been even hotter coming down the stretch. Sanoja has hit safely in 20 of his last 22 games, going 32-for-89 (.360) with two stolen bases, four doubles, three triples, four homers and a .422 wOBA.
He is averaging 10.3 FPTS per game over his last 10 contests and had five hits in the three-game series against the Cubs to start the week. He brings both power and speed potential, and has settled into the middle of the Marlins’ batting order in a good run-production spot. Sanoja has 8+ FPTS in four of his last six games and has been a steady producer with a good ceiling.
OF Carlos Jorge, Cincinnati Reds at Toronto Blue Jays, $2,500
Jorge is expected to leadoff for the Reds as they take on righty Jose Soriano ($8,000). Jorge makes sense in today’s MLB DFS value picks as a bargain play in the outfield since he brings a high ceiling with lots of speed. The 23-year-old made his MLB debut earlier this month after slashing .308/.376/.427 with eight home runs and 33 stolen bases between Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Louisville.
Jorge homered on Thursday for his first MLB home run and went 1-for-4 out of the leadoff spot. He has at least one hit in each of his last three starts, and as long as he gets on base, he should be able to utilize that blazing speed.
