We’re now into Week 2 of the college football season with another loaded slate across the country. There’s a battle between a nationally ranked Big 12 squad and an SEC program entering a new era this evening. We’re talking about the Utah Utes and Arkansas Razorbacks, who square off at 8:15 p.m. ET in the late window.

Arkansas vs. Utah player props
Devon Dampier 50+ rushing yards (-132)
Devon Dampier returned for another season with the Utes, which was a little bit surprising given that longtime head coach Kyle Whittingham departed for Michigan over the offseason. Utah is surely glad he’s back given how successful he was in his first season with the program last year – he threw for 2,490 yards and 24 touchdowns with just five interceptions, but it was his prowess on the ground that really stood out. Dampier ran for 10 touchdowns with 835 yards on 146 carries, good for an average of 5.7 yards per attempt. Even more impressive are his numbers from the prior season with New Mexico, in which he racked up 1,166 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground alone.
Given his ability to scramble out of the pocket and use his athleticism on designed run concepts, Dampier has established himself at one of the NCAA’s premier dual-threat quarterbacks. The senior just ran for 31 yards on six attempts last week against Idaho, but the FCS program also didn’t put up much of a fight given that Utah won 66-14. The Utes subbed their quarterback out in the second half of that contest, but he should get much more time on the field today against Arkansas. The Razorbacks’ defensive front held North Alabama to just 40 rushing yards last week, but against one of the sport’s prolific ground games, they may struggle to contain Dampier today.
KJ Jackson 220+ passing yards (-106)
Last year, KJ Jackson didn’t get on the field much with Arkansas, but that wasn’t really due to his own shortcomings. Taylen Green, one of the most prolific athletes at the quarterback position in recent years who was selected in the sixth round of the NFL Draft, was the first-string option. With Green now departed, this is the chance for Jackson to show what he can do moving forward.
If Week 1 was any indication, there’s certainly some upside for the junior. He completed 24-of-35 passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns, though he did toss an interception. Overall, it was a very solid outing for Jackson, who now leads the Razorbacks into Salt Lake City for this matchup. Utah’s defense was one of the strongest in college football last season, and the Utes are a 12.5-point favorite for this game tonight. That means that Arkansas should be playing catch-up, so I fully expect Jackson to air the ball out tonight. Watch for some high passing volume as he gets to at least 220+ passing yards while trying to hang around with a nationally ranked competitior.
