It has been an incredible year for Marta Kostyuk so far. The 24-year-old made back-to-back major semifinals at Roland-Garros and Wimbledon this summer. She also won her first career WTA 1000 title in Madrid. Kostyuk has been one of the most consistent players in the world all year, and she is now on another good run in Toronto. She is tuning up her game just in time for the US Open, where she hopes to go on another deep major run. She is playing with a new-found confidence that makes her one of the most exciting players to watch at the moment. However, this will be a great test against Iga Swiatek.

Iga Swiatek Preview

Iga Swiatek is having her worst season in years. Swiatek has won a major each of the past four years. However, barring a huge run at the US Open, that streak will break in 2026. In fact, Swiatek has not even made it out of the quarterfinals at a Grand Slam this year. Unless something changes over the next few weeks, this will be Swiatek’s first season without winning any sort of title since her first professional season in 2019. Once one of the most consistent players on Tour is now hard to rely on against any opponent, let alone the best players in the world.

My best bet for this match is on Marta Kostyuk. She is a slight underdog, at +110 on the Moneyline. The Iga Swiatek name value is still enough to have her as a favorite. However, Kostyuk has been the much better player all season. Look no further than the only time these two have faced off in 2026. Kostyuk beat Swiatek 7-5, 6-1 in the Round of 16 at Roland-Garros earlier this year. Kostyuk should take down Swiatek again in this match and move on to the quarterfinals here in Toronto.
