What happened to Jordan Walker? Injury updates for Cardinals vs. Yankees 8/4/26

The St. Louis Cardinals take on the New York Yankees tonight with first pitch roughly half an hour away at 7:05 p.m. ET. However, the visitors will miss one of their big bats due to an injury that’ll leave him sidelined.

Jordan Walker has been scratched from tonight’s game due to right knee inflammation. He was previously set to bat second in the order.

The Cardinals will certainly miss their standout outfielder tonight against New York. The 24-year-old is in the midst of a breakout campaign, slashing .285/.343/.491 with an .834 OPS. Walker’s 123 hits are second most of any player on the roster, as are his 68 runs. His 81 RBI and 22 homers are also both good for the team lead, as is his OPS – and that RBI mark ranks third in the entire NL.

St. Louis has slumped ever since the All-Star break, dropping to 56-57 and now sitting fourth in the NL Central. The club is 4.0 games shy of an NL Wild Card spot as things stand.
