What happened to Jake Bauers? Injury updates for Brewers vs. Pirates 8/4/26

The Milwaukee Brewers host the Pittsburgh Pirates in an NL Central division rivalry set to begin around 7:40 p.m. ET. Now, they’re set to be without their best hitter in the lineup.

Jake Bauers has been scratched from Tuesday’s contest due to abdominal soreness, per the team. He was previously slated to play first base and move up to third in the batting order.

It’s been an incredible season for Bauers thus far, who’s slashing a career-best .270/.375/.503 across the board for an .878 OPS that ranks eighth in the NL. He has 93 hits, 68 runs, 64 RBI and 20 home runs this season, which fall third, second, second and first among all Brewers batters.

Milwaukee is 69-43 prior to tonight’s game, good for the best record in the entire MLB. The club maintains a 5.5-game lead on the rest of the NL Central.
