Up until May 31, 2026, the New York Yankees were first in ISO (.193), second in wOBA (.336) and second in wRC+ (117). That was the last time Aaron Judge played due to injury. Since then, New York is second in strikeouts (26.2%), 19th in ISO (.164), 29th in wOBA (.293) and dead-last in wRC+ (87). An offensive infusion was needed in the worst way, and the drip was provided by acquiring Luis Garcia Jr. from the Washington Nationals.

Through 374 plate appearances, Garcia Jr. is slashing .283/.313/.560 with a 4.3% walk rate, 16.3% strikeout rate and .277 ISO. He has 23 home runs, 48 runs, 76 RBI and four stolen bases. The average exit velocity is 91.6 mph while the barrel rate is 12.5%, both career-highs. Against right-handed pitching, the wRC+ is 146 with a .298 ISO. The big bugaboo is lefties, as the wRC+ is only 69 with a .218 batting average and .164 ISO.

The good thing for the Yankees is that Paul Goldschmidt is mashing left-handed pitching this season, posting a 178 wRC+ and .285 ISO.

Combined, Garcia Jr. and Goldschmidt will provide potency from the first base position.

Per MLB.com, Cebert is ranked as the #14 Yankees prospect, Grable is #25 while Cruz and Bird are outside the Top 30.

Cebert is a 24-year-old, right-handed pitcher that throws in the mid-to-high 90s with the fastball. He complements that with a slider and cutter. In 82.2 minor league innings this season, the strikeout rate is 27.4% with a 7.1% walk rate.

Grable is a 24-year-old, right-handed pitcher that averages mid-90s on the fastball, but it’s a pitch that is unique due to the massive amount of vertical break. As a result, Grable has a massive 31.5% K-BB% in 36.2 minor league innings this season.

Cruz is a 27-year-old, right-handed pitcher that has massive velocity on the fastball. In 5.1 major league innings this season, the fastball is averaging 99.9 mph. The K-BB% is 25% while the FIP is 1.97. In 35.2 minor league innings, the K-BB% was 24.2%.

Bird is a right-handed pitcher that is 30 years old. Through 30.1 innings this season, Bird is posting a 4.35 FIP.
