There are a handful of aces taking the mound Friday, from Blue Jays righty Dylan Cease to Rangers veteran Nathan Eovaldi and Red Sox southpaw Ranger Suárez. Can Cease deliver a repeat performance for the ages? Will Eovaldi continue his dominance in Houston? Can Suárez keep a solid streak alive? Here is our full breakdown of where we think each starting pitcher will wind up in the strikeout column.
Best MLB Strikeout Prop Bets Today (July 31, 2026)
- Toronto Blue Jays vs. St. Louis Cardinals: Blue Jays RHP Dylan Cease 8+ strikeouts: Cease has hit 8+ K in 10 of his last 12 starts and 8 of 10 home starts this season, plus he the Cardinals lineup he is facing is more strikeout-prone on the road.
- Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers: Rangers RHP Nathan Eovaldi 7+ strikeouts: Eovaldi has gone for 7+ K in 5 of his last 6, including his only start in Houston this season, all while the Astros have struck out 37 times in their last three games.
- Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Boston Red Sox: Red Sox LHP Ranger Suárez 5+ strikeouts: Suárez is riding a streak of 8 consecutive starts with 5+ K, which suggests he could take advantage of a Dodgers lineup that has left the door open for opposing starters’ strikeout production as of late.
MLB Strikeout Prop Bets Breakdown
Dylan Cease 8+ K (-141), Toronto Blue Jays vs. St. Louis Cardinals
Cease has been a machine as of late, and now he is coming off a 12-strikeout shutout on the road against the hottest team in baseball – the Red Sox. He is returning home to Toronto, where he has hit eight-plus strikeouts in eight of 10 opportunities this season. This bet has hit in 13 of Cease’s last 19 outings, as well as 10 of his last 12. The righty is averaging over 7 innings per start in July, all while leading the American League with 13.3 K/9. Going against the Cardinals could make things more difficult for the 30-year-old All-Star, but it helps that the contest isn’t in St. Louis. The Cardinals average the third-fewest strikeouts per home game in MLB with 7.08, but they only average the ninth-fewest per road game with 8.43.
Nathan Eovaldi 7+ K (+107), Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers
Eovaldi has been mowing down divisional opponents this month, notching eight strikeouts against the Mariners and 10 against the Angels. The veteran has recorded at least seven strikeouts in five of his last six and nine of his last 14, putting him at 12-for-20 on the season. While this bet has hit in an even 6-of-12 when Eovaldi has gone on the road, he did punch out eight Astros batters in 7.0 scoreless innings the last time he pitched in Houston back in May. He also struck out eight in 7.2 innings of one-run ball in his lone trip to Houston in 2025, as well as seven in 7.0 frames the last time he pitched there in 2024. The current rendition of the Astros is also extremely strikeout prone at the moment, considering they have gone down by way of the K 37 times in their last three contests alone.
Ranger Suárez 5+ K (-128), Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Boston Red Sox
After going 3-for-10 to start the season, Suárez has posted at least five strikeouts in eight consecutive starts. He also boasts a 2.63 ERA, 1.90 FIP, 1.156 WHIP and 11.1 K/9 across his last 13 outings. So while the Dodgers boast one of MLB’s best offenses, there aren’t many pitchers out there who are better equipped to rise to the challenge than Suárez. He only needed 4.0 innings and 15 batters faced to reach six strikeouts in his first start back from the injured list, after all, so he should have an even higher ceiling as he returns to his previous workload – an average of 5.2 innings and 23 batters faced over his prior 14 appearances. The Dodgers, despite averaging the sixth-fewest strikeouts per game in MLB, have allowed five of the previous nine starters they have faced to record five-plus strikeouts.
