For the fourth and final major of the season, we head to Royal Birkdale Golf Club (par 70, 7,223 yards, fescue/bentgrass greens) in Southport, England, for the Open Championship. This par 70 has most recently hosted the Open Championship in 2008, when Padraig Harrington (+3) won by four strokes and in 2017, when Jordan Spieth (-12) won by three strokes. For this week, there is a $17 million purse at stake, 152 golfers competing and a top-70 and ties cut after the first two rounds.

Top Golf DFS Picks for the 2026 Open Championship
Chris Gotterup ($8,500)
Gotterup is a difficult fade at this price tag. The 26-year-old has won three times this season – which is tied with Matt Fitzpatrick for the most on the PGA TOUR – most recently with a victory at the John Deere Classic two weeks ago.
Gotterup has only missed one cut in 18 starts and he has produced 11 top-25 finishes this season. Gotterup ranks ninth in total strokes gained and he followed up his win at the John Deere Classic with a T-11 at the Renaissance Club for the Genesis Scottish Open last week. Gotterup won at the Renaissance Club last season and he also finished third at Royal Portrush for last year’s Open Championship, which was his first attempt at the major.
While a limited sample of 14 rounds, Gotterup ranks fifth in this field in strokes gained per round at courses in Europe. The Rutgers product knows how to handle the unpredictable nature of links golf very well and Gotterup is a threat to contend at Royal Birkdale.
Viktor Hovland ($8,300)
Following a lackluster start to his season, Hovland is playing outstanding golf heading into this major. In his last four starts, Hovland has finished third, MC, first and T-13. The 28-year-old has shot under par in 12-of-14 rounds during this run and he has gained strokes on approach at every tournament. That win came at the Travelers Championship three weeks ago and Hovland defeated Scottie Scheffler in a playoff to secure his eighth PGA TOUR victory.
In his first start following the win, Hovland finished T-13 at the Genesis Scottish Open last week and he ended this tournament on a high note, carding a 6-under 64 at the Renaissance Club on Sunday, which tied for the lowest score of the final round.
Hovland ranks ninth in SG APP when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds and he is finally starting to look like the dominant player we saw peak at No. 3 in the world golf rankings in 2023. Hovland has made 4-of-5 cuts at the Open Championship with three finishes of T-13 or better and he should supply another high at the major this week.
Nicolai Hojgaard ($6,600)
Hojgaard has advanced to the weekend at the last four Open Championships, including two top-25 finishes. The Dane finished T-14 at Royal Portrush a year ago and a similar finish is within reach for him at Royal Birkdale.
Hojgaard is in compelling form, finishing T-14 at the Travelers Championship and T-26 at the Genesis Scottish Open in his past two starts. The 25-year-old gained strokes on approach at both events and he ranks 26th in SG APP this season.
Hojgaard also ranks 17th in par five performance, which is a great sign for Royal Birkdale, as both of the Open Championship winners at this venue in the new millennium have led their fields in par five performance. Hojgaard is a three-time winner on the DP World Tour, so he is accustomed to competing in Europe, and he is a terrific bargain at this low price point.
