UFC 329 fight week is underway, and this Saturday’s event is headlined by the return of ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor, who faces Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway for the second time. This is McGregor’s first fight since his bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. Holloway is coming off a loss to Charles Oliveira at UFC 326 in March.

When was Conor McGregor vs. Max Holloway 1?

Conor McGregor first faced Max Holloway on August 17, 2013, at a UFC Fight Night in Boston, Massachusetts. McGregor beat Holloway by unanimous decision 30-26, 30-27, and 30-27 on the three judges’ scorecards. In that fight, McGregor recorded 53 significant strikes, four takedowns, and 6:26 of control time. Holloway finished that contest with 32 total strikes and 23 significant strikes.

The first time they faced off, it was McGregor’s second UFC fight and Holloway’s fourth. At the time, Holloway was 21 years old, with McGregor being 25. Since their first fight, Holloway has gone 20-6 while McGregor is 8-4 in that span. Now, the two face off 13 years after their first contest, as decorated former champions and legends of the sport.
