Yordan Alvarez 1+ Home Run (+316): Alvarez has 22 homers on the season, trailing only Kyle Schwarber for the major league lead. He has seven in his last 16 games but hasn’t left the yard in any of his last four contests. His last homer was on Saturday at home against the A’s, and he has evenly split his 22 home runs between at home and on the road. He’ll be in Kansas City this weekend, where he’ll face righty Luinder Avila in Friday’s series opener. Avila is 0-2 with a 7.50 ERA at home this season and has allowed two homers on the year, both to lefties like Alvarez. Avila doesn’t have an extended history, but Alvarez is capable of going yard in just about any matchup, and the public likes him to get back in the home run column of the box score on Friday.
James Wood 1+ Home Run (+340): Another big lefty is getting plenty of attention, as James Wood crashed into the most bet player props with 18 homers on the season — 10 of them at Nationals Park. He’ll be home for Friday’s matchup against Bryce Miller and the Mariners. Miller has been very effective this season, owning a 1.33 ERA with only a pair of home runs allowed in 27 innings. Lefties haven’t homered against him at all this season, but Miller also hasn’t been working extremely deep into games, so Wood could get chances after he departs. He homered on Wednesday and now has five long balls in his last 15 games, posting a 55.6% hard-hit rate and a 25% barrel rate over that span.
Ketel Marte 1+ Home Run (+279): Ketel Marte and the Diamondbacks roll into the homer-friendly Great American Ball Park on Friday night to face Cincinnati lefty Nick Lodolo. Marte has hit 11 homers this year, four against lefties like Lodolo, with a higher ISO, wOBA, and wRC+ on that side of his splits. The switch-hitter is 1-for-3 with a homer in past matchups with Lodolo, who has been homer-prone this year — allowing eight gopher balls in six starts. Righties (like Marte in this matchup) are responsible for seven of those homers, also posting a .371 wOBA, a .295 ISO, and a 15.9% barrel rate.
