PITCHER
Stud
Joe Ryan, Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox ($9,000) — Through 56.2 innings, Ryan has a 27.1% strikeout rate, 20.9% K-BB% and has allowed only three home runs. He’s put up over 20 FPTS six times with a high of 31.1 FPTS, which came in his most recent outing. Now he faces a White Sox team that is third in strikeouts.
Value
Eric Lauer, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies ($6,300) — Lauer has pitched 36.1 innings this season, and they have been terrible ones. The FIP is 6.91, the K-BB% is 6.2% and he’s allowed 11 home runs. The average exit velocity is 90.2 mph, the launch angle is 23.7 degrees and the barrel rate is 12.5%. That was all with Toronto, though. Now he’s with the Los Angeles Dodgers, who will likely reform another depressed asset. The matchup doesn’t hurt either, as Colorado is first in strikeouts against left-handed pitching, 29th in ISO and dead-last in wRC+.
INFIELD
Stud
Brice Turang, Milwaukee Brewers vs. St. Louis Cardinals ($5,200) — Through 215 plate appearances, Turang has seven home runs, 41 runs, 30 RBI and nine stolen bases. The walk rate is 17.2%, strikeout rate is 21.9% and the ISO is .194. The average exit velocity is 91.3 mph. Against right-handed pitching, the wRC+ is 191 with a .254 ISO. Michael McGreevy has a 4.42 FIP and 8.6% K-BB% against lefties while five of the seven home runs allowed have come off their bats.
Value
Miguel Rojas, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies ($2,600) — In 44 plate appearances against left-handed pitching, Rojas has a 133 wRC+, a .300/.364/.450 slash and a .150 ISO. Kyle Freeland has a 6.02 FIP and 11% K-BB% while eight of the nine home runs have come off the bat of a righty.
OUTFIELD
Stud
Andy Pages, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies ($5,100) — Yup, we’re stacking against Freeland. Pages has a 145 wRC+ with a .262 ISO against left-handed pitching.
Value
Harrison Bader, San Francisco Giants vs. Arizona Diamondbacks ($2,800) — Bader is only slashing .181/.212/.394 in 99 plate appearances this season. In addition, the strikeout rate is 28.3%. That said, the BABIP is only .194 while the ISO is a healthy .213. Against left-handed pitching, the wRC+ is 175 while the ISO is .333 with a 20% strikeout rate. Granted, that’s in a small sample size of 20 plate appearances.
