Prediction, pick for Ateba Gautier vs. Ozzy Diaz at UFC 328

Surging middleweight prospect Ateba Gautier returns to the Octagon Saturday night, taking on Ozzy Diaz in the featured prelim of UFC 328 in New Jersey.

Gautier (10–1, 4–0 UFC) enters on a nine-fight winning streak, punctuated by a unanimous decision victory over Audrey Pulyaev in January. Diaz (10–3, 1–1 UFC) hasn’t fought since his first UFC win — a unanimous decision over Djorden Santos — in March 2025.

The pair were initially slated to clash at UFC 320 in October, but Diaz withdrew due to an injury.

Gautier enters as an overwhelming -1100 moneyline favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook, while Diaz sits as a +700 underdog. The total is set at O/U 1.5 rounds.

Gautier vs. Diaz Preview

Ateba Gautier

They call him “The Storm” for a reason.

Ateba Gautier has wasted no time cementing himself as one of the most formidable rising prospects on the active roster. The Cameroonian striker, 24, has won nine straight bouts — eight by knockout. Gautier got off to a flawless start inside the Octagon, finishing his first three bouts in the opening round.

While the stoppage streak came to an end in Gautier’s most recent bout against Andrey Pulyaev, he scored two knockdowns en route to a unanimous decision victory. The Dana White’s Contender Series graduate heads into Saturday night looking to deliver another statement performance — likely in the form of a highlight-reel knockout — that keeps the rest of the division on notice.

Ozzy Diaz

Ozzy Diaz is coming off his first UFC win — over a year ago. Despite being a former LFA champion with a 90% finish rate, “One Hit” makes his third trip to the Octagon at 35 years old. And with an increasingly compromised chin.

All three of Diaz’s professional losses have come by knockout, including a first-round stoppage in his UFC debut against Zhang Mingyang in November 2024. Serious questions surround his ability to rebound in this spot.

Gautier vs. Diaz Pick, Best Bet

After such a long layoff, it’s hard to believe that Diaz will have time to shake off the ring rust before getting caught in “The Storm.” Expect Gautier to blitz his opponent from the opening bell and secure a first-round finish on Saturday night.

Best Bet: Ateba Gautier by KO/TKO/DQ in Round 1 (-150)
