Guard
Stud
Daniss Jenkins, Denver Nuggets at Orlando Magic ($7,300)
Cade who? I’m kidding but not kidding. Since Cade Cunningham succumbed to injury, Jenkins has started 10 games and averaged 19 points, 4.4 rebounds, 7.7 assists and 2.1 treys in 35.9 minutes. He helped Detroit log eight wins in 10 games. From a fantasy perspective, he’s put up at least 30 FPTS in eight of those contests with four over 40 FPTS. Orlando used to be known for smothering defense, but the Magic need to make an appointment at the shop because there are leaks. Over the last 15 games, the defensive rating has been 21st.
Other Options: Tyrese Maxey ($10,000), James Harden ($8,800), Stephon Castle ($7,500), Nickeil Alexander-Walker ($7,100)
Value
Max Strus, Cleveland Cavaliers at Memphis Grizzlies ($4,800)
Since Strus returned to action from injury, he’s mainly been playing around 24 minutes a night. He did get 27 minutes four games ago and 28 last game, so he could see a few extra minutes of run on any given night. The production has been all over the map, with three games below 20 FPTS and three games over 30 FPTS, which includes a high of 44 FPTS. The game environment, matchup and possible extra playing time make Strus somewhat appealing since Memphis is eighth in pace and dead-last in defensive rating over the last 15 games.
Other Options: Dylan Harper ($5,000)
Forward
Stud
Jalen Johnson, Atlanta Hawks vs. New York Knicks ($10,500)
Johnson is second in the league with 13 triple-doubles and he’s a threat to mess around on any given night. He has a high of 92 FPTS on the season and went over 70 FPTS seven other times, so he can access a ceiling. New York has been playing good defense and has the defenders on the wing to give Johnson some problems. That said, in two prior meeting with the Knicks this season, Johnson went over 50 FPTS in both contests.
Other Options: Dyson Daniels ($6,500)
Value
Devin Vassell, San Antonio Spurs vs. Philadelphia 76ers ($5,400)
Julian Champagnie and Devin Vassell are very similar. Both are out there to space the floor for the Spurs and both will play around 28 minutes. Champagnie has put up at least 21 FPTS in each of the last six games with three over 30 FPTS. Vassell has put up at least 22 FPTS in five of the last six games with four over 30 FPTS. I’m good with either option so it would come down to whether there is a big spread in ownership.
Other Options: Julian Champagnie ($5,300), Max Strus ($4,800), Nae’Qwan Tomlin ($3,800)
Center
Stud
Victor Wembanyama, San Antonio Spurs vs. Philadelphia 76ers ($12,400)
We all knew Wembanyama had a chance to make a mockery of the fantasy hoops landscape. We just didn’t know when it would happen. Well, liftoff has happened and the rocket boosters will soon be detaching from the main body. Over the last 15 games, Wemby has put up at least 50 FPTS in all but one with five over 70 FPTS and a high of 81 FPTS. He literally stuffs the stat sheet to the point where the numbers open their tops and start throwing out confetti. He’s not in the Nikola Jokic tier yet, but Wemby is counting the threads on the bottom of Jokic’s 361’s.
Other Options: Joel Embiid ($9,500), Jalen Duren ($8,700), Jarrett Allen ($6,300)
Value
Olivier-Maxence Prosper, Memphis Grizzlies vs. Cleveland Cavaliers ($4,400)
Prior to Sunday’s game, Prosper missed two of three contests due to injury. When he’s been on the court, though, Prosper has been uber-consistent for fantasy, going for at least 20 FPTSs in 12 of 13 games with two over 30 and a high of 48.8 FPTS. All of that despite playing at least 30 minutes only three times.
Other Options: Onyeka Okongwu ($6,000), Wendell Carter Jr. ($5,400), Thomas Bryant ($4,600)
