With one more event to go before the Masters, the PGA TOUR will remain in the Lone Star State. The Valero Texas Open returns this weekend to the Oaks Course of TPC San Antonio (par 72, 7,428 yards, POA trivialis greens), the tournament’s home since 2010.
Brian Harman (-9) won this event in 2025 by three shots. There will be 132 players competing this week, and a top-65 and ties cut after the first two rounds.
TPC San Antonio is a Greg Norman-designed parkland course that features narrow fairways, thin rough, 64 bunkers, and water in play on three holes. It’s pretty flat and can be susceptible to strong wind gusts. Efficient drivers have fared well here, as three of the past four victors at TPC San Antonio have finished in the event’s top-12 in SG OTT.
Still, being a strong iron player is far more crucial. Harman finished second in SG APP during last year’s win, and four of the past five winners at this par 72 have finished top-four in the metric. Among the holes at TPC San Antonio, scoring on the par fours is most important, as three of the last five winners have led their fields in par-four efficiency.

Bud Cauley ($7,200) — Cauley boasts a great resume at TPC San Antonio. The veteran has made 5-of-7 cuts and finished inside the top 20 three times at the par 72, highlighted by a T5 finish in 2025. Cauley ranks 11th in this field in strokes gained per round at TPC San Antonio and has shot as low as 6-under 66 at the venue.
Cauley heads back to San Antonio as the maker of nine of his last 12 cuts. He finished inside the top 40 seven times during this stretch, including a T18 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational earlier this month and another top-20 finish is possible for Cauley this week.
William Mouw ($7,000) — After finishing T33rd in his Valero Texas Open debut last year, Mouw should finish even higher in his second attempt at TPC San Antonio. Mouw returns to the Texas track 69 spots higher in the world golf rankings and has made three straight cuts.
Included during this run is a T6 at the Cognizant Classic and a T24 at THE PLAYERS Championship. Outside of around the greens, Mouw has gained strokes in every major category in three straight starts. Mouw has also shot under par in nine of his 12 rounds during this cut streak and he ranks fourth in total driving this season.
Billy Horschel ($6,800) — Horschel missed the cut at the Texas Children’s Houston Open last week, but he had made four consecutive cuts prior. That stretch included an impressive T13 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Horschel has made eight of his last 11 cuts, and TPC San Antonio is an excellent place for a rebound performance.
The veteran has made 6-of-10 cuts at the course and produced many high finishes, posting a T3 finish in 2013 and 2015, a T4 in 2016, and a T11 in 2018. Horschel should get overlooked after last week’s missed cut and is underpriced for his upside.
