They are tied with the Hornets and Magic, with these three teams sitting one game behind the 76ers for seventh place, 1.5 games out of sixth, and two games away from the fifth seed. Miami’s previous win over Cleveland snapped a five-game losing streak.
This season, Miami is 43-30 against the spread and has cleared the over in 39 of 73 games.
The Heat lead the NBA in pace and rank second in scoring with 120.2 points per game. They sit 13th in offensive rating, 19th in field-goal percentage, and 16th in three-point percentage. Defensively, Miami ranks 22nd in points allowed, sixth in defensive rating, seventh in opponent field-goal percentage, and sixth in opponent three-point percentage.
Norman Powell is fresh off his first career All-Star nod, averaging 22.2 points per game on a 38.4% clip from three. Bam Adebayo pours in 20.3 points and 9.8 rebounds, while Tyler Herro adds 21.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per contest. Kel’el Ware, Davion Mitchell, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Andrew Wiggins play notable roles, as well.
The Cavaliers sit fourth in the East with a 45-28 record. They shook up their roster at the trade deadline, acquiring James Harden to make an all-in push. The early returns have been promising as Cleveland has won four of its last five games.

Cleveland is scoring the NBA’s fourth-most points at 119 per contest. They also rank sixth in offensive rating, eighth in field-goal percentage, and 13th in three-point percentage. Donovan Mitchell averages 28.3 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game. James Harden has settled in across 19 games with the Cavs, averaging 21 points, 7.7 assists, and 5.4 rebounds per contest. Evan Mobley adds 18.1 points and 8.9 rebounds, while Jarrett Allen contributes 15.3 points and 8.5 rebounds of his own. Jaylon Tyson and Dean Wade will miss Friday’s matchup due to injury. Sam Merrill, Keon Ellis, and Dennis Schroder each play key roles in the rotation.
Heat vs. Cavaliers prediction, best bet
This is the second back-to-back matchup between Miami and Cleveland this season. Back in November, the Heat picked up a 140-138 win before the Cavs responded with a 130-116 victory two days later. But a lot has changed within Cleveland’s lineup ahead of Friday’s rubber match in South Beach.
On Wednesday, the Heat cruised to a 120-103 win with little resistance, leading for 94% of the game and stretching their lead as wide as 21 points. They shot 52% from the field and 40% from downtown, with all five starters scoring in double figures.
Expect a similar outlook two days later. While the Cavs may be the more talented team, their motivation has been questionable down the stretch. Miami, meanwhile, seems to have flipped a switch with its level of desire. Wednesday was a spirited effort from the opening tip.
Miami is 7-3 against the spread as a home underdog and 23-14 ATS as an underdog, overall. In contrast, Cleveland is 8-17 ATS as a road favorite, 20-39 ATS as a favorite, overall, and 16-20 ATS when playing on the road. The Cavs have covered the spread in just two of their last 10 games.
The James Harden honeymoon phase was positive, but it takes some serious stylistic adjustments after such a seismic shift. It’s evident that the Cavs are working through growing pains ahead of the playoffs.
The Heat know exactly who they are and are playing some high-level basketball down the stretch. Expect them to treat every matchup, including this one, as a must-win game in the thick of the playoff race.
