The World No. 1, Scottie Scheffler, has withdrawn from the Houston Open. This comes just two weeks before Scheffler looks to win his third green jacket at The Masters.

Golf fans will miss getting to see Scheffler in Houston this week. However, it is not due to an injury that could jeopardize Scheffler’s status at The Masters. It is due to his wife, Meredith, giving birth to their second child.

The Schefflers are set to have their second child two years after the birth of their first child, which caused major controversy during Masters week. In 2024, Scheffler announced that his wife was approaching her due date and that he would leave The Masters to be with her if she went into labor. Scheffler went on to win his second green jacket that year, and his wife did not give birth until a couple of weeks later, so things worked out perfectly for the Scheffler family. They will avoid that drama this time around, as Scottie Scheffler should be set to compete at The Masters as a father of two.

The Houston Open is not the most competitive field, so Scottie Scheffler was a heavy favorite (+350) to win the event. Scheffler has never won a Houston Open, but he has been the runner-up each of the past two years. The new favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook to win the Houston Open is the defending champion, Min Woo Lee (+1500).
