Although Sutherland has more experience, Pericic has the physical advantage in this contest. He is taller (6’5″ vs. 6’3″) and has a longer standing reach (79″ vs. 76″).
Pericic is Australian, but trains in Auckland, New Zealand, at City Kickboxing. City Kickboxing is one of the most well-known MMA gyms and is led by top-tier coach Eugene Bareman, with a stable that includes Israel Adesanya and Carlos Ulberg. Training with those elite fighters is very helpful for an up-and-coming fighter like Pericic.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Pericic is a -238 favorite with Sutherland being the underdog at +195. This fight has an over/under of 1.5 rounds with the under being -130. Pericic should be able to use his athleticism to move around the Octagon while controlling the pace of this fight. If he does so, a finish is extremely likely, as he has not wasted any time getting his opponents out of there. All five of Pericic’s victories in his MMA career have come by knockout or submission, and you can get him to pick up the finish at -165.
