UPDATE: On Monday, the PGA TOUR Communications account announced that Keith Mitchell, Robert MacIntyre and Sudarshan Yellamaraju are out of the field and Doug Ghim, Andrew Putnam and Kris Ventura have been added. Those changes are reflected in the odds listed below.
The PGA TOUR wraps up four straight weeks in Florida with a stop at the Valspar Championship at the Copperhead Course at the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Florida. The event doesn’t quite have the prestige of a Signature Event or THE PLAYERS Championship, but it still draws a solid field and gives players a key chance to win critical FedExCup points.
So far in Florida, the closing holes of every tournament have brought high levels of drama. Shane Lowry, Daniel Berger and Ludvig Aberg had commanding leads late in the last three events, but Nico Echavarria, Akshay Bhatia and Cameron Young each rallied late (and got help) to claim the victories.
The Copperhead Course is another difficult, water-filled Florida course, with water lurking on many holes, including the famous “Snake Pit,” the nickname given to the three closing holes.
Last year, Viktor Hovland won by one stroke over Justin Thomas and two over Jacob Bridgeman. Bud Cauley, Billy Horschel and Ryo Hisatsune rounded out the top five.
