Jayson Tatum O 4.5 Assists (-104)
Tatum logged 27 minutes in each of his first two starts of the season and that appears to be his limit right now. Still, that is plenty of time for him to clear this assist line. In his first two games back from his Achilles tear, Tatum has dished out seven and two assists. The six-time All-Star is handling a 25.4% assist rate and he is averaging 10.0 potential assists per game. Last season, Tatum averaged a career-high 6.0 assists on 11.6 potential assists per game with a 27% assist rate.
There is plenty of reason to expect strong playmaking performances from Tatum going forward and playing up in pace vs. the Spurs tonight, he could surpass 4.5 assists with ease. Boston ranks dead last in pace this season, compared to San Antonio, which ranks 12th.
Julian Champagnie O 14.5 Points + Rebounds (-131)
Champagnie is a strong bet for this over with Harrison Barnes (ankle) out. The veteran has missed four straight and in his absence, Champagnie has stepped up with 14.3 points and 7.0 rebounds in 27.6 minutes per game, which ranks third for the Spurs during this run.
Champagnie has posted at least 16 PR in each of these past four, and he is handling a 16% usage rate and 27% rebound rate over this time. While the Celtics are a tough matchup, ranking fifth in defensive rating this season, this 14.5 PR line is just too low for Champagnie with Barnes missing.
Devin Vassell U 13.5 Points (-123)
Vassell has gone cold recently. In his last three, the wing has scored just eight, 11 and five points while shooting an ugly 26.9% from the field and 18.8% on three-pointers. Vassell’s usage also hasn’t been encouraging during this stretch, ranking just seventh for the Spurs in usage rate at 15.1%.
The Celtics are giving up the fewest points in the NBA to shooting guards this season and Vassell should have another quiet outing in this spot.
