What happened to Klay Thompson? Live injury updates for Thunder vs. Mavericks on Sunday 3/1/26

With 1:59 left in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Klay Thompson was replaced by Caleb Martin. Thompson suffered a right adductor contusion and will not return to the game. There’s been no mention of when or how the injury occurred.

Prior to exiting, Thompson contributed seven points and an assist in 15 minutes of action off the bench.

If he’s out for an extended period of time, there is no one in particular who benefits. Thompson is averaging only 22.1 minutes a game on the season and the Mavericks are currently dealing with a plethora of injuries. His minutes would likely be spread out evenly – a few minutes here and a few minutes there.

Stan joined DraftKings in December of 2020. It was a glorious time, except for that whole COVID thing, when we got Madden streams and boisterous bat flips from the KBO. I was brought on board to bring some West Coast flavor. I especially love hoops, and most of my content is in that arena. When I walk along the beach, strumming my guitar, the beat that I hear is not one of crashing waves. No, it is the beat of the ball bouncing off the hardwood with highs provided by the squeaks of the sneakers. Ball is life.
