In two of those three games, three or more goals have been scored. They first met in November, when Newcastle beat Man City 2-1 in the Premier League. Then, they played each other twice in the Carabao Cup semi-finals, with Man City winning 2-0 away from home and 3-1 in the home leg.
Man City have gotten the better of Newcastle in seasons past as well, winning five of the last seven games in all competitions, drawing one and losing one.
These teams will also face off in the fifth round of the FA Cup, and it’s possible that they meet in the later stages of the Champions League as well. There is a chance that these teams could play each other a total of seven times this season.
Man City have won four straight games in all competitions, and are slowly closing in on leaders Arsenal in the Premier League. A win in this game would see the Citizens only two points off top spot. A win at Anfield might have turned their season around, as they followed that up with a convincing 3-0 win against Fulham. A third league win in a row would go a long way towards another Premier League title, and they should do just that.
