PSG vs. Newcastle prediction, pick for Wednesday 1/28/26

Perhaps no match in Wednesday’s 18-game UCL slate has more consequence than this PSG-Newcastle match. The two sides are tied in the table and on goal differential, making the outcome of this game all-important for the knockout stages.

PSG is a -185 favorite to win on DraftKings Sportsbook while Newcastle is at +450. There are +360 odds that the teams will split the points. Let’s get into a prediction and pick for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League matchup.

PSG vs. Newcastle prediction, pick

PSG, the defending champions of Europe, got off to a perfect start in their title defense. Winners of the first three matches in the qualifying stages, they seemed well on their way to the knockout stages. Since then, they’ve faltered a bit, losing to Bayern Munich and Sporting CP while drawing against Athletic Club. Now they need a win to secure an automatic bid to the Round of 16.

This kind of precarious position is a negative surprise for PSG, but a positive one for Newcastle. Squarely mid-table in the English Premier League, playing knockout football in the UCL would be a huge accomplishment. Anthony Gordon’s stellar play has been the key for Newcastle.

A key status to monitor here is Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes. His status is up in the air for this game, and his absence would be a huge blow to their midfield. They need all hands on deck for this one, and losing a big player like Guimaraes creates a lot of issues.

PSG are already the superior side. Attacking play will be free-flowing, led by reigning Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé. Newcastle have stout veteran defenders, but there’s not much you can do against PSG when they’re on their game. I expect Newcastle to get theirs on the other end, but ultimately, the French side will triumph in a high-scoring affair.
