Si Woo Kim

Si Woo Kim has been outstanding over the last few months. Since the start of August, Kim has made eight cuts in a row worldwide and hasn’t finished worse than T21st at any of these events. Specifically in his last three starts, Kim has finished T4th at the RSM Classic, third at the Crown Australian Open and T11th at the Sony Open last week.

The T4 at the RSM Classic is notable since that event features multiple courses, just like this week’s American Express. At these past three tournaments, Kim shot under par in all nine of his rounds and gained strokes on approach at every event, most notably ranking third in SG APP at last week’s Sony Open.

Kim is striking the ball at an elite level right now, and if he can find some luck with his putter at the American Express this week, securing the fifth PGA TOUR win of his career is a real possibility. The American Express features three courses and Kim is fond of this setup, as he won this event back in 2021. The Pete Dye Stadium Course became the host of the American Express in 2016 — meaning this venue hosts two of the four rounds of the event — ever since, Kim has never missed a cut here in seven starts and has finished inside the top-25 five times.

Kim is gaining 2.29 strokes per round at the Dye Stadium Course, which ranks eighth among this field. He is also gaining 1.04 strokes per round at Dye-designed venues for his career, which ranks 12th among this field. In addition to his win at the 2021 American Express, Kim won the 2017 PLAYERS Championship by three shots, which was played at Dye’s most famous course at TPC Sawgrass.

Kim clearly has a true love for Dye designs and shouldn’t be an overly popular choice for one and done pools this week, especially with the American Express hosting arguably the strongest field in the history of the event.

Despite the stiff competition, Kim carries the eighth-best odds to win the American Express at +3500 on DraftKings Sportsbook.
