We head to Waialae Country Club (par 70, 7,044 yards, Bermuda greens) in Honolulu, Hawaii, for the Sony Open, which is the first event of the 2026 PGA TOUR season. Nick Taylor (-16) is the defending champion of this tournament and for this week, there will be 120 players competing and a top-65 and ties following the first two rounds.
Below, I have featured two of my favorite long shot outright bets to win the Sony Open on DraftKings Sportsbook.
William Mouw (+10000)
After ending his rookie season in great form, Mouw absolutely could contend at the Sony Open this week. The 25-year-old closed 2025 making seven of his final 10 cuts and during this run, he carded four top-25 finishes, including his breakthrough win at the ISCO Championship in July, which Mouw followed with a T7 at the 3M Open in his next start.
Mouw has shot under par in eight straight rounds and he has gained strokes on approach at back-to-back events. Plus, Mouw ranks 33rd on the PGA TOUR in par four performance, which is a great sign for Waialae CC, as this venue is a standard par 70 with 12 par fours, where four of the last five winners have finished the event top-10 in par four efficiency.
Mouw missed the cut at Waialae CC in his Sony Open debut last season, but is a far more polished player a year later, sitting 52 spots higher in the world golf rankings.
Patton Kizzire (+20000)
At this extremely long number, Kizzire is worth taking a chance on. The 39-year-old won the 2018 Sony Open, which is just one of his many great finishes at Waialae CC. Kizzire has made 6-of-9 cuts at the par 70, four of which have been top-15 finishes. The veteran has shot a 6-under 64 four times at Waialae CC and he also carded a 7-under 63 at this course in 2022.
On top of his win at the 2018 Sony Open, Kizzire has won two other times on the PGA TOUR, most recently at the 2024 Procore Championship. The Auburn product will miss cuts often, but Kizzire has spike weeks when he is on fire and this could be one of those weeks.
Kizzire is coming off a T33 at the Bank of Utah Championship in which he gained strokes across the board and statistically, his putting is far and away at it’s best at courses with Bermuda greens, which is the type of putting surface he will be competing on at Waialae CC.
