The NHL returns with a 10-game slate for New Year’s Eve, with games spanning the entire day from 12:30 to 9:30 p.m. ET. Both the Flyers and Devils played on Tuesday night and will be the only two teams operating on zero days’ rest.

Best NHL props for Wednesday 12/31/25
Nikita Kucherov 2+ Points (+115)
Kucherov has notched 30 points across his last 20 outings, and he ranks sixth in the NHL in 5v5 points per 60. He has eclipsed 2+ points in three straight games, including in seven of his past nine road games. On Wednesday night, the Russian draws a matchup against a Ducks team that has dropped seven of its past 10 games. Anaheim leads the league in 5v5 goals against per 60, and Tampa Bay ranks second in 5v5 goals for per 60. The Lightning have won four straight games, and Kucherov should be able to continue his strong play.
Mark Scheifele 1+ Assist (-115)
The Jets are slowly spiraling out of control, having lost 15 of their last 18 games and finding themselves at the bottom of the Central Division one year removed from winning the Presidents’ Trophy. The offense has simply not been there, especially on the road, but one thing that hasn’t changed has been Scheifele’s playmaking ability. The 32-year-old is tied with Kyle Connor for the most points on the team, and he ranks fifth in the NHL in 5v5 primary assists. Scheifele ranks 11th in 5v5 assists per 60 and has notched one in five of his past seven road outings. John Gibson is the expected starter for Detroit on Wednesday night, and while Detroit is a stellar team at home, Gibson is quite average, ranking 42nd in goals saved above expected and 53rd in SV% above expected.
Alex Tuch 1+ Point (-105)
The Sabres enter Wednesday night riding a nine-game win streak, with Tuch recording seven points during this span. Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff has been experimenting with lines all season, but he may have finally found something with the second line comprised of Tuch, Noah Ostlund and Josh Norris, which has produced a 56.6% xGoals% across just seven games this season. Tuch ranks 10th in the NHL in both 5v5 assists per 60 and 5v5 points per 60, with 26 of his 31 points coming at 5v5 play. Dallas allows the fourth-fewest goals against per 60 and is expected to give Casey DeSmith the start. DeSmith sports an impressive 2.33 GAA and .915 SV% this season, but has been exposed a bit in his past two starts, and I’d expect a red-hot Sabres team to take advantage.
