The season is over for the Atlanta Falcons. At 4-9, they have been eliminated from the playoffs and at this point are playing for pride on Thursday. They’ll have to get it done without their QB1, Michael Penix Jr., and their WR1, Drake London. That means a lot of pressure for Darnell Mooney and the Atlanta pass-catchers in this matchup with the rival Buccaneers. And the player prop market is sure confusing.
The Buccaneers are -4.5 home favorites on the DraftKings Sportsbook. If you’re keen on a Falcons upset, they’re at +195 on the moneyline. The total for this game is set at 43.5 points. Let’s dig into my favorite Darnell Mooney prop bet for this game.
Best Darnell Mooney Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Darnell Mooney 50+ Receiving Yards (+182)
Boom-bust does not begin to describe Mooney’s performances. In 11 games this season, he’s been held to 25 or fewer receiving yards seven times. His other four games have seen him get 34, 44, 68, and 74 yards. It’s all or nothing, and that’s only been exacerbated without Drake London.
It all looked peachy in the first game without London, when Mooney reeled in all three targets for 74 yards and a score in a win over the New Orleans Saints. Sure, it’s not the most intimidating matchup, but he showed some solid chemistry with Kirk Cousins, who likes to cut loose a deep ball or two.
Things have gone downhill since. He caught two of five targets for 25 yards in a loss to the Jets before bottoming out with one catch for six yards on four targets against the Seahawks. In a contest where the game script heavily favored the pass, it was a huge disappointment for Mooney.
This is his chance at a get-right game. Tampa is in the bottom 10 in total passing defense and yards allowed per passing attempt. The Buccaneers have consistently allowed wide receiver duos to thrive, not just WR1s. Kirk Cousins’ penchant for the big play should come in handy in a win-or-die game for the Falcons; they’re going to go down swinging.
