The Cowboys host the Vikings for Week 15’s edition of Sunday Night Football. While the Vikings’ defense has been pretty solid all season, the Cowboys are a high-volume passing offense that typically make multiple pass-catchers excellent fantasy plays. With CeeDee Lamb uncertain, Ryan Flournoy could be a fantasy football playoffs sleeper that can give your team a boost at wide receiver.
In this post, we’ll take a look at the latest info on Lamb’s availability and who could step up to shoulder the load if he misses Sunday’s game in Dallas.
CeeDee Lamb Injury Update
CeeDee Lamb has posted over 14 fantasy points in six of his last seven games, with at least seven targets in every game he has played since he returned in Week 7 from an ankle injury. In the Cowboys’ Week 14 loss to the Lions on Thursday Night Football, Lamb was on his way to his most productive game of the season when he was slammed to the turf while trying to make a catch in the end zone.
He was diagnosed with a concussion in the third quarter and did not return. This week, Lamb has been able to practice but remains in the NFL Concussion Protocol.
While he still has a ways to go, it is possible that Lamb will be ready to return without missing any game action, but if he isn’t able to recover in time, what could the Cowboys’ receiving corps look like?
Can Ryan Flournoy be a Fantasy Football Sleeper?
While George Pickens would be an elite WR1 in Lamb’s absence, he’s a great start either way. The bigger impact will be on Ryan Flournoy, who has had two spike games with Lamb was out, but has also been off the fantasy radar completely when Lamb is active.
In Week 5 with Lamb out, Flournoy hauled in six catches on nine targets for 114 yards and 21.4 fantasy points. He was even better in Week 14, catching 9-of-13 targets for 115 yards, a touchdown and 29.5 fantasy points against the Lions.
Flournoy didn’t post those kind of monster numbers every time Lamb missed a game this year, but he did flash a high enough ceiling to be very intriguing if Lamb is sidelined. He would be a viable deep-league FLEX play in Week 15 with Lamb out against the Vikings, even though they are typically strong against receivers.
The Bottom Line
If Lamb clears the protocol, Flournoy probably wouldn’t get enough targets to be viable. He had three targets or fewer in six straight games before his big game on Sunday. The third-year receiver from Southeast Missouri State does have potential, but he should only be in your fantasy football plans if Lamb isn’t available.
If that’s the case, though, then Flournoy has shown good PPR potential and can be a fantasy football sleeper to grab off the waiver wire and get into your lineup to help you move on to the next round of your playoffs.
