As the temperature drops, the action is only heating up across the NBA. Six games between 12 teams are slated for Tuesday night. That includes a playoff rematch between the red-hot Knicks and the scrappy Celtics in Boston. Later, the Warriors will hope to give the juggernaut Thunder their second loss of the season.
Which players can you trust this evening? Here are my three favorite NBA prop bet picks on DraftKings Sportsbook for tonight’s contests.
Top NBA prop bet picks
Anthony Edwards 4+ three-pointers made (-105)
New year, same Anthony Edwards. Despite missing a few weeks due to injury, the All-NBA talent remains one of the NBA’s most dangerous players. Through 16 games, he’s averaging 28.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists. One aspect of Ant-Man’s skillset that keeps getting better is his shooting. The former number one pick has drained a career-best 41% of his three-point attempts this season. In addition, the 24-year-old is attempting 11.3 treys per game, behind only Steph Curry (12.0).
That level of volume makes Edwards an enticing option for bettors from beyond the arc. Tonight, the Timberwolves will take on a mediocre at best New Orleans perimeter defense. Opponents are knocking down an NBA-high 15.2 three-pointers per game vs. the Pelicans. In comparison, Edwards has nailed at least four three-pointers in each of his previous five outings. There is some blowout potential in this one. Regardless, anything close to 30+ minutes should be enough for Minnesota’s leading man.
Mitchell Robinson 8+ rebounds (-122)
The biggest x-factor for the Knicks might be Mitchell Robinson. Often injured, the big man is a defensive force when healthy. In addition, he has a claim as the NBA’s premier offensive rebounder. That proved crucial during New York’s postseason run last spring, which included taking out the defending champion Celtics. Granted, the center’s workload restriction makes his nightly production somewhat erratic. Still, he’s managed to snag 8.4 rebounds in just over 17 minutes per game.
The Celtics are a much different team than last year’s squad, primarily due to Jayson Tatum’s absence. In addition, the team lost front court pieces such as Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford, and Luke Kornet. Unsurprisingly, Boston has surrendered the fifth-most rebounds per game to opponents this season (55.9). In comparison, Robinson has hauled in at least eight boards in eight of his 12 appearances. During his last time out on Sunday, Mitch accounted for 15 rebounds against the Raptors. Another dominant showing on the glass could be on tap in Boston.
Brandin Podziemski 14+ points (-121)
Steph Curry (quads) is out for the Warriors, while Jimmy Butler (glute) is questionable. Even if the latter suits up, this offense will look much different than normal tonight. To make matters worse, Golden State has a road date with the defending champion Thunder. To keep things competitive against Oklahoma City, the Dubs will need some role players to excel in larger roles. That includes former first-round pick Brandin Podziemski. The third-year pro has posted 12.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game this season.
Podz is a jack of all trades, which can make it difficult choosing one player prop bet to support. However, he’s taken on a larger scoring role recently without Curry. In four of the guard’s last five games, he’s notched at least 14 points. In all but one of those contests, Curry was active. Now, with the future Hall of Famer sidelined, there’s more minutes and touches to go around. Oklahoma City, for all its dominance, has allowed the seventh-most three-pointers made per game to opponents (14.3). Podziemski has drained at least two treys in eight of his last ten outings. Don’t be shocked if that shooting success continues during Tuesday’s primetime matchup.
