After 17 years relegated to the dustbins of YouTube searches and memories, The Skins Game is back. The marquee golf showcase, which captivated viewers from 1983 to 2008 before being discontinued, will return for 2025 under the direction of TMRW Sports, which also runs the TGL, Tiger Woods’ upstart simulator golf venture that will return for its second season in late December.
The 2025 iteration of The Skins Game will begin at 9 a.m. ET on Black Friday with the same nostalgic format — this time, with a new “reverse purse” twist in the format — and a new generation of players. No longer does the annual showcase feature Fred Couples, the legendary five-time winner and five-time runner-up, and it doesn’t include Woods, who has yet to announce a return to professional golf after recovering from Achilles and back surgeries earlier in the year. Instead, Keegan Bradley, Shane Lowry, Tommy Fleetwood, and Xander Schauffele will take the national stage on Friday morning.
The competition will be aired on Amazon Prime Video, showcasing the four men as they navigate Panther National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The 7,864-yard, par-72 Jack Nicklaus and Justin Thomas co-design was opened in 2023 and features water on all but four holes, as well as multiple island greens, so even for players as good as Bradley, Lowry, Fleetwood, and Schauffele, it will present a challenge.
The Skins Game 2025 odds, format, how to watch
Given that these are four of the world’s top players and The Skins Game can be a volatile format, it’s unsurprising that they are evenly matched. Schauffele (+260), a two-time major champion and the 2020 Olympic gold medalist, is the slight favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook, but 2025 TOUR Champion Fleetwood (+265) and 2011 PGA Championship winner Bradley (+265) are tied with the second-shortest odds. Lowry (+310) brings up the rear, but the Irishman shouldn’t be underestimated, as he has nine top-10 major finishes to his name, including one win.
When each player steps to the first tee, he will have $1 million at his disposal. At the start of each hole, he’ll pay into the purse, and if a player ends up winning the hole outright, he’ll take home the purse for that hole. If multiple players tie, that prize money will be carried over to the next hole until one player wins a hole outright. As in previous iterations of the competition, the first through sixth holes will be worth less money, the seventh through 12th holes will be worth more, the 13th through 17th more than that, and the 18th the most. The players’ goal will be to finish with more than the $1 million he started with.
Viewers who tune in to the Amazon Prime broadcast — which features Andrew Catalon, Colt Knost, and Dan Rapaport as its commentary team — will then be able to transition right into the Black Friday Football game between the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles, as well as NBA games between the Milwaukee Bucks and the New York Knicks and the Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers.
