Butler Bulldogs vs. South Carolina Gamecocks prediction, pick for NCAAM on Friday 11/21/25

The cavernous Greenbrier floor in West Virginia fits more like a hotel ballroom than a classic venue, which matters because both South Carolina Gamecocks and Butler Bulldogs arrive with strong flyers but limited tournament-neutral seasoning. South Carolina is 4-0 and trying to prove their early-season balance matters; Butler is 3-1, posting an explosive offense but yet to show full sustainability. With neutral-site variance creeping into our card recently, this one demands we temper certainty and lean curve-aware. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for tonight’s college basketball game between the Butler Bulldogs and the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Butler vs. South Carolina prediction, preview

South Carolina brings a clean control profile. They’re scoring 85.5 points per game, sharing the ball with 19.8 assists and only 11.5 turnovers. They grab 39 boards per game and shoot 46.9% from the floor, 36.0% from three and 77.5% at the line. Their margin is built on balance rather than volatility. Their key pieces: Meechie Johnson holds the on-ball keys with 14.5 PPG and 3.8 assists in under 28 minutes; freshman Eli Ellis nearly matches him at 13.5 PPG and 3.8 assists; and Mike Sharavjamts brings a two-way blend at 11.5 PPG and 6.0 boards while hitting 46.2% from the arc. The under-the-radar beat: they’ve done this without crashing the glass heavily—39 RPG suggests the rebound edge isn’t dominant, but their shot control and assist-to-turnover rate are tidier than most.

Butler, by contrast, is louder. They’re posting 95.8 points on 49.0% shooting, 40.2% from three (10.8 makes per game), grabbing 46.3 boards, and posting a +23 scoring margin. Their assist-to-turnover ratio looks more aggressive: 84 assists vs 61 turnovers in four games. Their shot-making looks top-50. Their key players: Finley Bizjack at 15.0 points per game with three made threes per game; Michael Ajayi with 14.8 points and 11.8 rebounds—the kind of rebound/hustle wing that can extend possessions. This looks like the sort of team that can explode on a neutral floor.

If we split the matchup: Butler’s explosive offense and rebound volume suggests they could tilt this toward higher scoring and pressure pace; South Carolina’s control, lower turnover rate and assist strength suggests they’d rather slow it down, knock down open looks, and make Butler beat them. In an equation: if Butler hits their threes and crashes the glass + their assists hold, they win; if South Carolina keeps the pace moderate, protects the ball and keeps the rebound margin narrow, they win.

South Carolina vs. Butler pick, best bet

We saw two favorites we wrote up last night win but not cover; we saw one lose outright; and we saw one just barely make it. It’s clear that tournament/unfamiliar sites might be amplifying variance: shots don’t fall, teams travel, schedules compress, crowd neutralization happens. Butler’s offense is more volatile (higher ceiling, higher floor risk) and South Carolina’s model is steadier but less flashy. In neutral settings, I lean toward steadiness. Also, Butler’s assist-to-turnover margin though good still lags their shooting; if they miss early, the margin might swing quickly. South Carolina has done the quiet thing well so far.

On balance, I lean South Carolina +3.5. I’m not confident enough to take them straight up at +150 (moneyline), but the spread gives us a margin of comfort if the Gamecocks tighten the pace, protect the ball, and force Butler to play the harder half-court clean game. If Butler turns this into a speed-and-volume track meet, they win comfortable. But I will live with the risk of a push or narrow loss because the steadier style in the neutral-court setting appeals to me given our recent mis-fires.

Final score: South Carolina 77, Butler 75, a tight, swingy neutral-court game where the steadier control metrics (assist-to-turnover ratio, pace discipline) edge out Butler’s volatility and rebounding advantage late.

Best bet: South Carolina +3.5 (-105) vs. Butler
