After one week off, the PGA TOUR is back this week with the World Wide Technology Championship, which will be played at El Cardonal at Diamante (par 72, 7,452 yards, paspalum greens) in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, for the third straight season. There will be 120 golfers competing this week and a standard top-65 and ties cut after the first two rounds.
Below, I have featured my two favorite bets for the World Wide Technology Championship on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Max Greyserman to win (+2000)
Greyserman is still seeking his first PGA TOUR win and this week feels like a perfect time for him to join the winners circle. Greyserman finished T-4 in his debut at El Cardonal last season and he caught fire in the second round with an 8-under 64. A year later, the Duke product returns to the par 72 fresh off a runner-up at the Baycurrent Classic last month, where he finished one stroke behind the winner in Xander Schauffele. At that event, Greyserman posted an 8-under 63 in the second round and he finished the event top-six in both SG APP and SGP.
This is the second time Greyserman has finished runner-up at a tournament during the fall swing and when we compare this field’s histories at fall events, Greyserman ranks second in strokes gained per round.
The 30-year-old clearly loves competing during this time of the year and if he can keep his foot on the gas after his near-win at the Baycurrent Classic, Greyserman claiming his first PGA TOUR title at El Cardonal this week is a realistic possibility.
Nico Echavarria to win (+4000)
Echavarria is on the heels of a T-9 finish at the Baycurrent Classic last month, which is the fourth time in his last eight starts that he has finished inside the top-25. Echavarria ranks seventh in SGP this season, which bodes very well for El Cardonal, which is an easy course that requires a hot putter to be successful. Both of the players to win the World Wide Technology Championship at this course have finished the event top-three in PPR.
Echavarria contended at this venue last season, finishing T-6, and this isn’t the only time we’ve seen him flourish at a course with paspalum greens. Echavarria won the 2023 Puerto Rico Open by two shots, which was played on paspalum putting surfaces at the Grand Reserve Country Club. Overall, Echavarria has made 7-of-7 cuts at courses home to paspalum greens and four of these finishes have been top-15 results.
Echavarria ranks fourth among this field in strokes gained per round at tracks with paspalum putting surfaces and the two-time PGA TOUR winner is worth investing in at this long +4000 price.
