The Celtics are playing their second game in two nights Monday vs. the Pelicans and Jaylen Brown is listed as questionable with a hamstring injury. Below, I break down one of my favorite NBA DFS targets for Monday’s nine-game slate if Brown is out.
PG/SG, Payton Pritchard, Boston Celtics at New Orleans Pelicans, $6,700
Pritchard is already handling a bigger role this season with Jayson Tatum (Achilles) sidelined and Pritchard’s workload will become even larger Monday if Brown is also out. Pritchard has played three games without Tatum and Brown the last two seasons and he is producing 37.4 FPTS per game in those contests.
With Tatum and Brown off the floor the last two seasons, Pritchard’s usage rises 6.7 percentage points to 25.8% and his assist percentage skyrockets 12.5 percentage points to 30.9%, resulting in 1.1 FPTS per minute for the guard.
This is an average matchup, with the Pelicans ranking 15th in defensive rating this season, but at only $6,700, Pritchard would be a strong target in any matchup if Brown is inactive. If that ends up being the case, Pritchard will have 40 FPTS upside and be one of the best values on the board for Monday’s nine-game slate.
